  1. Having sailed in both AQ and Sky Suites, I have found these differences, many of which others have mentioned: Tables not as close together in Luminae In Luminae, the option to order anything off the MDR menu, on S class ships that is not the case in Blu. Breakfast options better (see above) in Luminae Embarkation lunch available in Luminae, not so in Blu. For us, no noticeable difference in service. If the price is right, we would consider sailing in a suite again, but we are very happy in AQ. I am one who really enjoys the Persian Gardens, and missed it when we were in the Sky Suites (yes, I know I coud have paid my way in).
  2. Another vote for ES. Publix and Total Wine are just out the back door and many good restaurants just blocks away. Kelly's Landing and Southport Raw Bar are two of our favorite pre-cruise places. Kelly's has great New England Style seafood and Southport has drink and food specials and great people watching as it always has a full compliment of locals eating and drinking there. I know there is a popular sports bar nearby the ES, not sure of the name, Duffy's maybe? There is a good ice cream spot across the street as well.
  3. Good seafood within walking distance: Kelly's Landing (New England style seafood, excellent clam chowder). Southport Raw Bar ( local spot, drink and food specials). No suggestions for Italian not music. Enjoy.
  4. While Murano never disappoints, first night at LCG would be my call.
  5. We have sailed both itineraries and both ships. We would take the Equinox and that itinerary. As we really enjoy Antigua, Barbados and St. Lucia. With that said we are heading to the ABC islands in a couple of weeks on the Silohuette.
  6. Embassy Suites on 17th Street should fit your requirements. There is a Publix grocery, a Marshall's and a Total Wine Store directly behind the hotel. Another good option is the Hyatt Place 17th Street Convention Center which is a block away. Not sure if you can book there for less than $200.00 though.
  7. Quarters were not accepted in the slot machines on the Celebrity ships we have sailed on in the last 18 months (Reflection, Silhouette, Equinox).
  8. Casino Bar has I believe two TVs, 1-2 in the Gastro Bar and I believe there might have been one in the Passport Lounge. ESPN and FOX were the channels. We travel often in the November-December time slot and have always found NFL games on the TV.
  9. Have enjoyed Bombay Sapphire martinis on most of the Celebrity line, in the Martini Bar, Ensemble Lounge and Michael's Club. In my experience, the practice of straight pours is more common than the use of a measuring glass in Michael's and the Martini Bar. I do think martinis from those locations are stronger.
  10. We have sailed Celebrity three times during the Thanksgiving holiday and the only Black Friday sale I can recall was in the Future Cruise Area. They had $25.00 deposits that day only.
  11. If you don't want/need all of the features on Royal and the private island stop, I think you will enjoy the Equinox. Never been to Samana, so can't speak to that port.
  12. Our experiences on S class ships follows. We usually book AQ and enjoy Blu. Our last cruise was in a Sky Suite and we really enjoyed Luminae. The advantage of having access to the entire MDR menus is a plus. I agree with previous posters that I would not book a suite just for Luminae, but it is a nice perk.
  13. In early September we were in a Sky Suite on the Reflection and we had full access to Michael's Club.
  14. Last year we were on a 12 day Celebrity cruise that spanned Christmas and New Year's. There were more kids than on other non - holiday cruises we have taken. My guess would have been around 100.
  15. They can do double duty when reserving entire rows in the theater.
