We are taken are first cruise on disney fantasy the week of october 17th.According to the weather every port is expecting 80 percent chance of thunderstorms. Will DCL possible pick a different itinerary. If not we have booked port adventures at each port thru DCL will they be canceled due to weather.

DCL will change ports IF the captain deems it unsafe due to weather and a reasonable alternate is available. THis is normally for hurricanes, not thunderstorms. Typically weather in the Bahamas/Caribbean is variable--storms may last 2 hours and the rest of the day is beautiful.

Any excursions that are canceled due to weather will be refunded. It is up to a combination of the tour operator and DCL whether they will cancel an excursion.

Our 1st cruise was cloudy and rocky for all but 6 hours....in Key West! It rained some, and was cloudy...no shadows even....the rest of the time. Our next cruise was gorgeous the entire time, with seas like glass....

Unless you're in a major storm, they will not change your ports.

Forecast for 10 days from now are as accurate as playing roulette. I wouldn't be concerned unless there's a major storm brewing. As others have said, in the Caribbean there's ALWAYS a chance of thunderstorms simply because the ingredients for this kind of weather (heat, humidity and unstable air) are almost always present. Don't overthink it. Go and have fun. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

We got caught up in hurricane Frances on our first cruise as a family.

We were extended 4 days and never even returned to port canaveral as it sustained major damage

Returned to fort Lauderdale

We had a great cruise and deck took us to many different sunny ports

Jetblue got us home from fll promptly

My suggestion.....bring extra underware and personal items....just in case

The short answer is no. However, the Captain does his best to skirt around pop up storms so folks can enjoy on deck activities. In the Caribbean there is always a chance of rain, I would not even remotely worry about the weather. Yes of course, if you miss a port because the ship does not dock there, your ship purchased excursions will be refunded.

As above, do not worry about predicted forecasts, they will change on a daily basis and it will drive you nuts monitoring and worrying about them!

they will cancel your excursions if the weather poses a safety risk, but really heavy rain and thunderstorms can happen on a daily basis and are usually very short in duration. They are used to this.

Just go on your cruise and enjoy it. The rain and thunderstorms will happen when they happen, and they will do their best to work around them.

Worrying about things out of everyones control is not the way to start your cruise, or worth it! Just enjoy the lead up to your vacation!
