In Toronto Posted October 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2015 I know that I read somewhere on this board of a recommended café by the boardwalk in Phillipsburg but can't find it anymore. The last 2 times we have docked in St. Maarten we have gone to Simpsons Bay to a restaurant/bar for the day. But, this time we have less time in port as well as many other ships so thought we would just hang around town. Not interested in shopping but do like to have a coffee and pastry or perhaps a glass of wine with a view/people watching. Any recommendations? Thanks. gtaylor Posted October 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2015 Wow! The Boardwalk is more known for Burgers and Beer than Coffee and Pastry. The glass of wine sounds more like this scene. There are lots of options for people watching and such. Are you looking upper scale like Holland House or Antoine's, or mid-scale like Barefoot Terrace, or just something simple like Burger Madness ? gary
In Toronto Posted October 10, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted October 10, 2015 Thank you, Gary. Barefoot looks right for us. Will look for it. Appreciate your help. Ellen
gtaylor Posted October 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2015 You can't miss Barefoot. It's the closest bar/eatery when you get off the Water Taxi downtown at the Little Pier. Right at the foot. gary
Podie Posted October 12, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 12, 2015 There is also GREAT gelato along the boardwalk closer to the pier at Gelato Milan and I think they also have coffee.

Now, that sounds interesting also. Perhaps gelato mid morning and then snack and wine/beer for lunch
gtaylor Posted October 12, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2015 I think that you might need to just take a quick walk along the Boardwalk and see all of the choices available there. :) gary

Are the burgers really as good as the reviews on TA? Might try to convince Mr Ski to do a burger at Burger Madness and then Dan's for a chocolate martini. We are creatures of habit and just keep going to the same places...Kangaroo Court or Greenhouse. We did eat at Barefoot in April ....that is where one of the jewelry stores treated us. It was very good. However...Burger Madness sounds fabulous!

I thought we had eaten there just last December. Mr Ski thought in April that the sales people at jewelry store told him it was closed for the day.....guess they meant for good. Sad.....we loved the pizza! Thanks for the info!
