That does not make sense Q.G/P.G/Diamond/Platinum, Have priority boarding no matter of what deck they are on . What they have written implies that someone in a inside cabin on deck 11 gets priority over a Queens Grill passenger

I believe the grill and status passengers get a noon boarding time? They will be followed by the order as listed above. There are non grill cabins on both decks 9 and 10 so perhaps the listed timings refers to those.

We have a 13.30pm boarding time as stated on the E Ticket for our deck 11 BC cabin on 5th November if that helps :)

Even priority boarding may be changing. Our eticket for QE December is showing 1230 boarding as Diamond level when it has been noon previously. As we set off early from Northern UK it is pot luck when we arrive anyway.

Well I am Diamond & my next cruise is 2 weeks time & my boarding time is 1200 & I am in a BD Balcony on deck 4, So to me that says that loading by decks does not apply to Grills & Diamond /Platinum passengers????

Or it says changes are starting in December and they may be loading Grills followed by different levels of World Club??? and everyone else is being loaded by deck???

On a TA, QM2 in September, QG had their own pen at Ocean, PG had their pen opposite. The masses were in the main body with coloured numbers.

The embarkation was QG, followed by PG, then Diamond, then Platinum, then by number as allocated on arrival.

Her indoors and I will be on QV on 16 November, however, we are in QG and are Diamond, but I'll watch how they are loading.

We are doing the segment Brisbane to Hong Kong and are on deck 6.

Does anyone know if boarding at a port which is part of a world cruise would mean an earlier boarding time. From reading the above posts I am guessing we would be given a time after 2.30pm ish but I hope as it isn't a full ship boarding we will be earlier. Flying up to brisbane the night before and will be checking out of our nearby hotel at 10am so not easy to fill in the time. We are staying near the port so its not as if we can have a wander around brisbane prior to going to the port.

Thanks for you help.

I get why people checking out of accommodation might arrive at port early. One might as well stare at a wall at port than look for somewhere else to stare at a wall.

However I do think that (for example at the large terminal at Southampton) they should be more discerning about how they dish out lettered order-of-embarkation cards. I'm not happy to turn up on time and wait for an hour whilst they process those not due to turn up for another 90 minutes. So sure, turn up ahead of schedule, but be prepared to sit in the corner and await your time.

If the early embarkation fairy has capacity, all well and good, but it quickly gets to the point where the queue does form, so to some extent, yes, they should enforce embarkation slots.

Sure, get there extra early to get a seat - but you're going need it if you turn up too early - as I waltz by to check in !! :)

This is exactly the change they are (I believe) trying to implement on P&O & is causing all the fuss - if you arrive early, you are, in theory to wait until your allocated time;

In practise, you will probably be board early, but not in front of those who have arrived on time, (so at the end of the current slot??) - no ones really sure yet what is happening (P&O have only be trying to enforce for a few months and reports vary from 'smooth' to 'chaos') & that is what is causing some of the angst on the P&O thread.

Having nearly missed check-in after a late allocated time in August & some delays en-route, I'm a little more sympathetic to the 'I'll arrive early & wait' brigade than I was before :).

Interesting Maggie, we are PG (deck 7) and Diamond on the same cruise in 2 weeks, but have been allocated a time of 12:30 currently ?

I will definitely say hello though :) :)

This is looking like echoes of the great label colour coding mystery:):):):)

Maybe it's not the colours, but the stripes or absence thereof that is important ? ;)

One thing is certain, I don't know

Passengers who drive - or who live or are staying in the departure city - can control their arrival time at the pier.

Those who are flying in on the day of departure (probably 1/2 or more at some ports) have no control over when they'll arrive. This includes those with Cunard booked air.

That said, if they can slow down or control the arrival of 30% to 60% of the passengers, it will make for a smoother boarding process.

I'm sure that within a year or two, the ruthless bean-counters at Carnival will find a way to follow the Southwest model, and charge extra for early boarding.

Carnival (cruise line not parent company) already does this. "Faster to the Fun" is a package that gives you priority boarding, tendering, and a few other perks. I don't see Cunard doing that. Faster to the fun starts at around $50 per cabin. If I paid Grills prices and someone in an inside cabin got in line ahead of me for fifty bucks, I'd be annoyed.

If it worked on Cunard the way it works on Carnival, I think the people who paid would board just after the deserving elite passengers.

We paid for it for our on Carnival cruise. In addition to not waiting to board you get access to your cabin immediately upon boarding where others have to wait until all cabins have been serviced.

Embarkation at Southampton Nov 3

Arrive at correct time and no problem apparently if you arrive too early they will fit you in gaps wherever possible but be prepared to wait!

All grills and plat/ dimond cards went to the right and were then escorted to their checkin then aimed at their security section.

The rest of use were given our alphabet and # and we waited a little while the long lineup/ queue had been broken down to small "byways" totally more efficient than previously. Security was a small line up and much better than previously
