titangas Posted October 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2015 Looking to book this tour through Chilkoot Charters, it says 8 hours. On the date we will be in port we have the option of Train first - 7:45 Bus first - 9:45 We will be in port from 7am to 8pm We are suite passengers and should have priority disembarkation. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to either direction? one more crowded? Will time be a factor whether in the am catching the train? or at the end getting to port? Any thoughts are appreciated. There isn't any "priority disembarkation", it is NOT a tender port. You also have no choice with the direction- there is only ONE train direction per day. - IF taking the Lake Bennett train? However your times- don't match up, so what tour are you talking about? You can do either direction on the Fraser train, plus have various road options as a combo. Take a closer look. But you often come off as arrogant and think you know everything and you do not! I already stated in the topic of the OP what tour I was talking about This is taken tight from Chilkoot Charters site, and is available to book right now. NOTICE: This tour only operates Tuesday through Saturday of each week from May 31 – September 3. DEPARTURE TIMES: 7:45AM – “TRAIN FIRST, BUS RETURN” (Tuesday – Friday) 9:45AM – “BUS FIRST, TRAIN RETURN” (Tuesday – Thursday) 8:45AM – “BUS FIRST, TRAIN RETURN” (Saturday) On the disembarking at port thing, I may have been mistaken as I haven't looked that closely into, just something I thought I read. bonvoyagie Posted October 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2015 (edited) Someone has something wrong, but BQ is correct in that there is only one train/day Here is the schedule from the WP&Y RR (they should have it right) •Available Dates: May 26 - September 5, 2015 •Tour Duration: 8 Hours •Departure Days & Times: 7:30 AM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday 8:30 AM Saturday •On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday, the tour operates train leg first with bus leg second. On Saturday, the tour operates bus leg first with train leg second The schedule from Chilkoot is incorrect but is as the OP reported. So I guess it is a tie.:D However Priority Dismemberment also applies to non-tender ports - at least on NCL suite and VIP passengers the concierge will give you a escort off the ship using the internal passageways to avoid any crowds - they did this for me in 12 when I did the Bennett Scenic Journey through Chilkoot Edited October 15, 2015 by bonvoyagie
Alaskanb Posted October 15, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 15, 2015 My reservation confirmation from Chilkoot for the Bennett Scenic Journey states a 7:30 am departure time and a 7:20 am meeting time at the end of the pier. We will be on the Star Princess that docks at 7:00 am. We will be at the gangway as soon as we are docked.
Budget Queen Posted October 15, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 15, 2015 I rely on my contacts at the White Pass RR as well. At this time, they do NOT have all their "details finalized for 2016" at this time. I just got another email confirming this today. Maybe they are adding another train- there is a lot of interest in the Lake Bennett train- but the operator- isn't updating their schedule for next year until next month. titangas- please place me on your ignore list

Maybe they are adding another train- there is a lot of interest in the Lake Bennett train- but the operator- isn't updating their schedule for next year until next month. Chilkoot usually waits until the RR has their plans and prices finalized before setting next year's schedules and price lists. I believe that the error lies in Chilkoot's website - somebody did a copy and paste from one of the other tours and did not make the correct changes. I will agree that for 2016 you will have to wait until at least December for Chilkoot to have their schedule and pricing. On my earlier post my autocorrect got the better of me - I meant to say disembarkment - not dismemberment

My reservation is for June 14 2016 Bennett Lake Journey. Chilkoot has set their prices for 2016 as being no different than 2015.
