Hotel on outskirts of Fort Lauderdale

We're driving to Fort Lauderdale and are looking for three hotel rooms

for February 13 for one night.

 

We're looking for something less expensive than what we're finding on different websites...very expensive time of year!

 

Can anyone recommend a hotel/city that might be cheaper, on the outskirts of Fort Lauderdale? We're hoping that a hotel up to an hour away might be more reasonable.

I would look for a hotel out near the Sawgrass Mall area. They are usually 10 to 20% cheaper .

Both times we've sailed out of Ft Lauderdale we stayed overnight at the Sleep Inn at Fort Pierce. From there you can easily take 95 or the Florida Expressway. It is over an hour from there but less than 2. Prices are much less. Any further north and prices/availability can be influenced by Daytona races that time of year and further south is more expensive.

Anything along the coast will be more expensive.

 

I think the Sawgrass idea is a good one.

There is a sleep inn by the airport that I will be staying at in November for my cruise. Every thing I read was a great review.

Try Pompano Beach. The Beachcomber is lovely and right on the beach.

Try the Hampton Inn in Plantation. Lots of cruisers stay there and it is reasonable.
