loubetti Posted October 22, 2015 #26 Share Posted October 22, 2015 Just as a somewhat useless "FYI", Puerto Rico, while in the Caribbean, sort of, actually borders the North Atlantic and the Caribbean Sea. The northern part of the island, where San Juan is, is on the Atlantic ocean, the southern is on the Caribbean. Doesn't make too much difference, just some trivia for you. :D
davy jones Posted October 23, 2015 #27 Share Posted October 23, 2015 I sailed the Glory in 2013. It was a nice ship, but had a few quirks. It had the 2.0 changes. The good changes were good. Opinions on the 2.0 entertainment vary. The mid ship MDR prevents going from one end of the ship to the other on two public decks. This forces you to go through the smoky casino to get from one end to the other. I also did not understand why the entertainment staff held events like trivia in the corridor by the casino entrance during the day when there were vacant lounges that could be utilized. Other than that, it is a good ship and you will have a good time.

Rare CruzerDeb Posted October 23, 2015 Author #29 Share Posted October 23, 2015 We were on the Glory in April and loved it! I would not hesitate to cruise on her again. We went to HMC, St. Thomas, San Juan & Grand Turk. Such a great itinerary that DH and I would love to do it again. This is exactly the itinerary I was considering and I booked it last night! Now, only 330 days to go . . .

davy jones Posted October 24, 2015 #32 Share Posted October 24, 2015 No it doesn't. You can traverse the ship on decks 3, 7,8, or 9 as well. True, but I believe that cabin hallways should not be used as public thruways.
Who Cares? Posted October 24, 2015 #33 Share Posted October 24, 2015 (edited) True, but I believe that cabin hallways should not be used as public thruways. Deck 9 is not a cabin hallway. But if someone is so afraid of walking past the casino I have to assume they won't share your aversion to walking down a cabin hallway that their cabin is not on. Either way, your statement that one is "forced" to walk through the casino is incorrect. Edited October 24, 2015 by Who Cares?

Either way, your statement that one is "forced" to walk through the casino is incorrect. I have no aversion to walking down those hallways. I believe in courtesy to my fellow passengers and respect their right to quiet in their cabins by avoiding unnecessary noise. Those things on both sides the hallways leading to the front of the ship on deck 9 are cabins. So you are incorrect about the hallway and me. nybumpkin Posted October 24, 2015 #36 Share Posted October 24, 2015 We have sailed on Glory five times, one Eastern, one Western, and three Canada. We love sailing on her. I am not a fan of the Playlist Productions, but we found other entertainment opportunities. One onboard place I love is the hot tub in the gym area. Who Cares? Posted October 24, 2015 #37 Share Posted October 24, 2015 (edited) I have no aversion to walking down those hallways. I believe in courtesy to my fellow passengers and respect their right to quiet in their cabins by avoiding unnecessary noise. Those things on both sides the hallways leading to the front of the ship on deck 9 are cabins. So you are incorrect about the hallway and me. Deck 9 is the pool and the buffet. One can walk the length of the buffet and pool area moving from the aft to mid elevator without walking past a cabin. Then again, the hallways, all of them, are public spaces and my right as a passenger allows me access to public spaces. If you'd rather walk through smoke, go for it but how about apologizing for trying to tell others there is no way to get from the front to the back of the ship without passing a smoking casino. You have stated as much that your statement is false. So let me ask you......just how much noise DO you make when walking down a carpeted hallway because if you're not making noise as most people would be not doing, how does that make you not using it a courtesy??? Completely baffled by this logic. OP, simply put, if smoke doesn't bother you you can go forward to aft via the casino (and other decks). If smoke bothers you, use almost any other deck to go forward and aft and you'll have no problem with smoke. She's a great ship (including the casino). Hope you enjoy her. Donfairview2001 Posted October 24, 2015 #38 Share Posted October 24, 2015 Smoke did bother me, may have been only thing that bothered me during an outstanding week on the Glory. It should be allowed in an open area. Pollutes and stinks up a much larger area than the actual smoking takes place in.

When I sailed her it was at the dock downtown (Havensight?). Could be different on different days due to how many ships are expected in port that day. Taylor95 Posted October 26, 2015 #45 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Just returned from Glory which was our first Carnival cruise (have been on NCL mostly). My biggest disappointment was the entertainment. We are not ones to spend the evening in the bar or a whole night in the casino but I do understand some people prefer that. I knew not to expect the Broadway style shows, but the Hasbro game shows were in my opinion really bad. We loved the itinerary, thought all the food was great, great service from dining room staff and room steward and enjoyed having a grand scenic ocean view cabin. My only other complaint (which is minor) was the organization of the pictures. If you have anytime dining, it is a nightmare to try and find them - I became frustrated and left without purchasing any pics at all. I asked how to find them and was told I needed to know what time we went to the dining room...didn't know that with anytime dining I needed to keep a log of the time I was going....
