Kids in hot tubs?!?!

You are delusional. The Red Cross issued warnings for kids under 5, due to overheating (not really an issue on cruise ships) and drowning (not an issue if they are with their parents). So, you are SOL if you don't want children in the hot tubs - they have just as much right to them as you do. 18 - really? Never.

actually, the timeshare i am staying at right now states no children in the hot tub without parental supervision below age 14 and those under 10 can stay in a max of 10 minutes......not that anyone here reads or cares about these rules. and when kids start paying for the cruise they are on they will have the same rights as other paying passengers.

the only reason anyone is sol on a cruise ship is because the cruise lines fail to enforce their own rules.

Can you show the rules NCL has in place regarding children in the hot tubs, that NCL personnel are ignoring? Not the time share you are staying at, but a NCL cruise ship? Kids do have the same rights as other passengers, as long as they are following the rules. Their fare has been paid by their parents.

To quote the Mayo Clinic:

Young children can quickly become overheated in a hot tub or spa. If you allow your child to use a hot tub or spa, keep the visit supervised, brief, and don't allow your child to put his or her head underwater. Long hair can get caught in an uncovered hot tub grate and cause drowning.

This assumes a hot tub kept at usual hot tub temps. Those on cruise ships are definitely NOT that hot. Still, it doesn't say 'no go' and I most certainly would not call anyone over the age of 10 a 'young child'. Young kids to me are those under 5.

Point being: Kids can go in the hot tubs. Younger children should absolutely be supervised while in ANY type of water (hot tub or not). You should not need to be carded to make sure you are 18 to sit in a petrie dish.
