Assignment when ?

First time booking a gaurantee so anxious to get assignment ! Sailing on November 14th the Westerdam, should I hear soon . We have a SY already , just wondering where we will be .

popular reports are that it usually comes 7-10 days out

 

you should get an email if you booked with HAL or from your TA

 

check luggage tags, as it appears there first

We received our assignment 13 days prior to boarding. It came in an e-mail from HAL, even though we booked through our large warehouse on-line travel agency.

Suites are a big upsell, odds are you will not get assigned until they've decided that all the people willing to pay them more are done moving up. I switched from a signature up to Neptune when I got the upsell so there is dinner constant movement in and out of that category I'm sure.

There are times people do not get their guarantee assignment until they actually check in at the dock. The stevedores have a copy of the manifest and have luggage tags. If you arrive without knowing your cabin number, the stevedore will set you up with your assignment and baggage tags.

On our 10/16/15 cruise we got our assignment three days before the cruise. Got an upgrade from a SC to a SA. Nicer location.

We almost always book guarantees and have gotten assignments anywhere from 1.5-13 days out. Good luck!

got one 6 weeks out. I was disappointed when I saw it come through as I knew it wasn't an upgrade that far out. And, it wasn't. Normally the closer to the cruise we have found we get a better upgrade.

Got it today 8085 Navigation Deck - no upgrade offerered , good location I am happy. Do you they ever do a offer after being assigned, first time doing guarantee for me .

I don't know about an upsell offer after getting an assignment, but once we got an initial assignment at 11 days out (which was an upgrade) and then a re-assignment at 3 days out which was a further upgrade. We paid for an H and sailed in a deck 8 V ... our best guarantee out of nine that we've done. Most of our assignments came at 11 or 10 days out. Check on weekends too, as we've gotten them on Sat and Sun evenings.
