Bought these for 7 visits for our visit. The old plastic card system was fine. The new electronic system is faulty.

 

You have your card rejected Go back to the booth where they claim or is fine. Then it is rejected again.

 

Back to complain again they say it is working.

Surely it's not necessary to shout. Can you not just use the loo in the bar when you get a coffee?

Not the point. I paid for a ticket which they would not accept. So I had to pay cash twice.

 

Shouting is to be expected. There was some swearing too the 2nd time

I don't blame you about the swearing :) - it's not right to have to pay for things twice. I've never wanted to try the pre-paid plan because I'd rather get something else for my money, like a bottle of water or a coffee along with my trip to the loo. Now that I know it doesn't actually work very well, I have another reason why I don't want to try it.

Have to agree. Paying money for the "privilege" to use public WCs is not my idea of a good investment. In Venice if we need the "loo" (love this English term) we simply stop at a nearby bar/cafe and enjoy a drink while taking advantage of the facilities.
