Champagne Brunch/Lunch in specialty restaurants

While looking over recent compasses from a Grandeur cruise, I noticed a couple of for a fee lunches. Wondering, what do the Champagne Brunch in Chops, Champagne Lunch in Giovanni's, and Izumi buffet offer? Is there anything special food wise?

We went to the Champagne Brunch in Chops on Grandeur 2 weeks ago. They had Lobster Tails, Melted Butter for the Lobster, Sliced Beef Filet (not as good as their filets at night), A Red Wine Reduction sauce for the Beef, Shrimp Cocktail, Breakfast Pastries, Cooked Vegetables, Potatoes, Multiple desert offerings and other things I cannot remember. There was unlimited Champagne, Mimosas and Bellinis. It was $50 per person, but was discounted to $40 since it was the first day at sea. They walked around the MDR during dinner signing people up.

 

They also offered one in Giovanni's one sea day, but I do not know what they served.

 

The Chops one was offered again on another sea day. (we had 3 sea days)

I did a mini-galley tour and champagne brunch for $15 on Liberty. Included a nice Q and A with the chef (I overslept and was in a small group 5 minutes after the BIG group-- perfect!). The food was good, but not spectacular. Ate some very nice shrimp cocktails (yes, plural!!). It was definitely worth it!

I'll have to keep my eyes open for this. What kind of food did they offer besides the shrimp cocktails?

This sounds like something I might do if they still have it on the liberty. I have never done a galley tour on any ship. Hope they continue this when the ship gets to Galveston.

That was the best, but:

Sushi similar to what is on the Buffet at night (which I like, so enjoyed having it earlier in the day)

Beautiful fresh fruit in martini glasses

Steak (but not at all the same quality as at night in the specialty restaurant-- and it was overcooked and left in a tray to get MORE overcooked)

Some other standard breakfast and lunch fare.

 

Overall, I really enjoyed the tour and speaking with the head chef. The lunch was an EXTRA perk and wasn't anything overly extravagant. But the shrimp, sushi, and fruit was the highlight. And several glasses of mimosa.

It certainly was not a $50 brunch as others had stated above. But for $15, I truly enjoyed the experience.

I am going to take a guess that the "champagne" is the same sparkling wine served in the C and D lounges. Hope not. Can any of you tell me I'm wrong?
