I posted another thread a few days ago about this and I got a lot of great repsonse.

I booked the MOS for this coming week of Thanksgiving. We have been on a several Carnival ships never RCI. My parents are cruise virgins, so this is really about them. I have been reading alot of reviews on the MOS and they have me concerned. I really just want to have a good time and introduce my parents to cruising and hopefully they have a great time and want to do it more, now that they are retired.

Any advice on the MOS? Activities? The night life?

Beverage package, yes or no? I guess then, if anybody knows the brands/types of beer they have available? Also any GF cider? Hubby is picky about his beer so knowing would help decide how many packages, which one, if any at all other than just the soda one!!

oh and any suggestions on things to do in Nassau that aren't really through the boat? or maybe they are, but are def worth doing?

And CocoCay? We have an 11 and 14 year old son, so they love water and activities like snorkling. My dad is active too, mom not a big ocean fan, any other activities for her? Nothing too physical. She will relax by the water with a chair and some shade :)

I think you will like it better than Carnival. There will be enough for them to do onboard and I am sure they will meet and make many friends. For their first cruise this is a great boat to introduce them to RCI and cruising. Lots to do from younger ages to older ages.

Nightlife, depends on what you are looking for or want. Always different options till at least midnight.

Not sure about the specialty beers as I am not a beer drinker. I didn't see many so I am guessing not. Wait till you get on board to buy the package if you are worried. There are many threads on this site about the drink packages and what's included.

Nassau, lots to do and see on your own exploring if you want to do it on the cheap, or can book many different excursions. Again, many threads on this board about that.

CocoCay is a relaxed island, can sleep, explore, hammocks etc.

Just got off the Majesty a few minutes ago. We loved it! Yes it's an older ship but the crew is exceptional! In Nassau, we just walked through the streets closest to port and shopped. We ate at Senor Frogs. We found a great little ice cream place on the upper level of a shop.

On Coco Cay we rented cabana #1. It was the closest one to the beach and we had a private lunch just for people who rented the cabanas and a bar in the same area. Loved it!

The shows at night were a lot of fun but not too impressed with the comedian. We got the drink packages but probably won't the next time. Food was great!

So nice to hear some positives! We are on the 12/7 sailing. What did you do in Key West? Also, any more about the Legionaire Bacteria onboard?

we will be on Majesty for our 30th time Thanksgiving weekend and love her. Staff is great. Yes she is old and not as many bells/whistles, but she is still great

Love the 70's show, Love & Marriage-2 not to miss

In Nassau - if you are not beach people, then I agree, just walk around town. Not our favorite place, we are staying on the ship next weekend instead

CocoCay - LOVE IT THERE!!!!! If the boys love to snorkel I have to tell you, we snorkel all over the caribbean and CocoCay has some of the best! We see so much stuff when we snorkel there. Go to the left where you see the opening between the rocks - it is great there. Then all the way to the right by the lifeguard station is where the ship wreck is so will see stuff there also

Have to tell you - we are NOT fans of the cabanas. We got invited to join someone and it was so stuffy and hot, you are not right on the beach you have to walk down to get to it.

There are so many place to relax right on the water there and enjoy your day, for me personally would never spend the $$ for a cabana. We always sit close to where the old pier was where the glass bottom boat used to go out. If you walk and see the band stand and turn left and walk to the beach and turn right that is where we sit. Great spot. We love it there

Have fun, we love Majesty and love CocoCay!!!

And BYW - regarding the drink pkg. Here is my take - if you drink 5 drinks a day or even 6 beers it is worth it. We get it all the time. Includes water/soda and pretty much any drink. We just get the Classic Pkg and I drink Miller Lite, but hubby can get Jack, Beam, Makers Mark etc. I can get Patron margaritas with it. So we never upgrade to the premium.

In Key West we rented an electric car and drove around the island. We had lunch at the beach cafe near the southern most beach. Very good food. Try the coconut shrimp. We rented the car from people right on the pier in the first booth. They take you to the car and gave us a map and highlighted things to see. After we returned the car we chose to walk back to the ship and checked out some of the shops along the way.

We have not gotten anything on the Legionierres Disease. I'm guessing it should have been eliminated after the two chlorinated treatments through the system or CDC wouldn't let people travel on the ship.

Best bartender on the ship is in the casino. Anthea was great!

I agree that Anthea is great in the casino bar. We had met her on Enchantment and she rocks. The bartenders in Schooner are also great, especially Wayan.

We usually walk or take a cab down to fish fry. Great food. There is a place along the beach on your way there called Gone Fishin. The have great caribbean BBQ at great prices.

Enjoy your cruise!

We boarded at 11:00 and most everyone was on by 3:00. We had to wait on some people before we could leave. My guess is they went through RCL for their flights and you are guaranteed to get on the ship (that's what my TA said). I don't know that the Legionnaires was a big deal. If it was I think more crew would have been sick and there was plenty of crew every where. I also don't think the CDC would let it continue to sail if a bunch of people were getting sick.

The BBQ on CocoCay is awesome! Great ribs! Explore the whole island - lots to see!

I personally found the soda package worth it - it depends how much you drink and of what.

Nassau - have you been before? There used to be a beach on Paradise Island that I'd suggest, but I think they've built on the land so you may not be able to access it anymore. The tours available from the ship are decent. We did one last time because it was too far to walk and everyone is a crazy driver there. It was good history of the Fincastle Fort (I think that was the name) and the staircase cut out of rock was nice to see.

Be wary of the market. It's an experience to go there but if you're looking for quality stuff, get it in key west.

You cancelled cause of that? Wow....that was a ONE time thing with the late boarding/sailing.

Hope you didn't lose any money. I was on the cruise right after the delay/cleaning they did.

I was on the ship just after 11am drinking...had a great cruise..one of the best yet.

Ship was great, staff was great and weather was great.

How long ago did Anthea work on Enchantment? I thought she looked familiar but of course thought nothing of it. Perhaps I did see her on Enchantment as I have cruised on her a few times over the past cpl years.
