On Which Cruise Did you Get an Upsell?

I wonder why they didn't come in with a better offer?

My best guess was that they had somebody booked on a guarantee ocean view for 4 people and wanted us to move and they didn't want to give the people with the guarantee a balcony for the price they paid. If they had come down to the upsell for $200 or $250 I would have taken it and I actually offered that but they wouldn't take it. Oh well, we were happy with our ocean view and somebody probably got a bargain on their guarantee.

In September 2014 on our fourth cruise we got a call three days

before sailing to upgrade from our Ocean Suite to a Grand Suite

for 150.00 pp. I jumped right on it because we saved close to

nine hundred dollars, Best thing we ever did on a cruise.

Would do it again in a heartbeat. HAPPY SAILING!!!

I received a call today for and upsell on the Valor sailing May 8th I was in a 8F balcony on Deck 10 and the upsell was for a Ocean Suite on Deck 7 mid ship for $250. I took it because it is a graduation cruise for my daughter. While talking to her I went on carnival and tried to book the suite and I was getting a deal.

This is my first cruise on carnival. I asked her why we were chosen and she said when I am looking to upsell to a suite I look for families and she seen we were celebrating a graduation.

Got Upsell in form of an email on this upcoming cruise, which is our first with Carnival. Came about 1 week after we booked online with Early saver and Paid in full at the time of booking for the June 9th conquest cruise. We were booked in an 8A balcony on Deck 6. We were offered an 8E Balcony on deck 9 or 10 :pfor a $20 charge. I grabbed that deal

3rd cruise was offered a move from 4K french door interior to premium balcony for $300 total on the Pride. Took it. Probably would not have if it was a regular balcony.

I have two casino deal cruises coming up in a OV. We have 2470 both on the Conquest and the Glory. Those are very large OV with two windows. They are larger than a regular balcony so I don't know if I would even move to a regular balcony for free.

I have stayed in those exact rooms on those exact ships and they are my favorite. I was offered a free upgrade to balcony and I turned it down. There are people that will think I'm crazy, but I don't care for balconies on Carnival because of the regular doors vs sliding glass doors which are much quieter.

Speaking of quiet, be forewarned that 2470 is NOT quiet unless you are docked or traveling slowly. It has constant vibration/engine noise when cruising at a decent rate of speed. That's one of the reasons I love it. Not to mention the room shaking that goes on when docking. The continual vibration/noise puts me to sleep where a sudden, loud bang like the balcony door slamming jars me awake and then I'm up for good. There are quite a few that find the aft rooms unacceptable due to the loudness. I'm not one of them. So if you like quiet, then move. Otherwise, enjoy!

I received a upsell call on my first cruise on Destiny. 8M to the Captains Suite for $1200. Turned it down. only 2 of us in the room.

My wife received one on Imagination in last May 3 people sharing an interior room. Got a call to upgrade to a GS for $200.

I received an upsell for Imagination this year. 4 people in an OV room to a GS for only $250.

I got an Upsell call for my 3rd, 5th, and 7th Carnival cruises. All were on Pride. All were from Balcony to OS. I took the offer on Cruise #3 and Cruise #7, declined on Cruise #5. I doubt I'll get the calls anymore. Carnival's nefarious plan worked on me: I now book Suites instead of Balconies. They got me hooked.:o:p But if they called to Upsell me to a higher-end Suite, I'd decline this time, too, since our friends are booked next door.:)

We got an upsell call to move from an OV on deck 2 to a balcony on deck 8 for 80.00. We took the deal, but if I had to do it over again I wouldn't. Deck 8 was really noisy. I took the chance that it might be ok, but the pool deck above us was a bad choice.

Another thread about someone getting an up sell got me curious.

People are always speculating why and how some get a call and others don't.

Is it the casino, region, age, past guest, $$$ ?????

In that thread several people reported they got a call on their 4th cruise, including the OP.

I've been called only once and it was about our 10th cruise. However after reading that thread I realized that though it was our 10th cruise overall, it was in fact our 4th on Carnival.

Curious if 4 cruises is the magic number?

I have never been called for an upsell.

On our 2nd cruise we were booked in an OV on the Main deck and were offered a Grand Suite on deck 6 for $400 more and we took it to celebrate a new job for my sister-in-law and on our 6th cruise were were booked in Lido deck balcony and were offered the Captains Suite for $1000 more or we could also choose an Ocean Suite for $300 more and we declined these.
