MandyMommyof2 Posted December 27, 2015 #51 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Yes living in Miami is definitely nice when you love cruising like we do!! Thank you for following along!! Where is the Getaway going this summer? We are doing Alaska possibly on the pearl and then hopefully (fingers crossed) the Harmony of the Seas! Thank you for following:):) We are wanting to do Alaska!! The airfare was crazy for us 4 when I checked!! It's definetly on our list. The itinerary for the Getaway is to Roatan, Bay Islands, Harvest Caye Belize , Costa Maya Mexico, Cozumel Mexico. All new places for us :) I looked on RCCL this morning. That would be a new one for us! Our previous are Disney and NCL.

VegasChic Posted December 28, 2015 Author #53 Share Posted December 28, 2015 Day 2 Sunday brought us a gorgeous day outside, I felt rested and ready to seize the day!! My daughter was very excited to hit the pool and slides but breakfast first. We typically have breakfast at the buffet but today I just wanted peace and tranquility so we headed to taste. My daughter and hubby... Me.... Menu.... Olivia ordered fruit loops with milk My hubby ordered a yogurt parfait....
VegasChic Posted December 28, 2015 Author #54 Share Posted December 28, 2015 Hubby and I both odered a veggie omelet, coffee and orange juice. The orange juice never came we had to remind the waiter when we were done eating as we did not see him again. The restaurant is tastefully decorated, very nice environment to dine unfortunately I never made it back here. After breakfast, we walked around for a bit before heading to the pool deck. A few pics walking around 678 oceanplace.... There was a watch sale going on I checked out the Michael Kors which were also 30% off but only the ones that no-one was interested in buying. They had other ones for 10% off but not really a deal for me to buy on the ship. Instead I bought a toothbrush ($2.00) because I left mine, a bottle of chanel #19 ($100 duty free) because again I left my perfume and I just could not stand the smell of my clothes after a night marinating in the musty closet. I also bought a cruise ship ornament of the Escape for my Christmas tree ($19.99). I received a free large NCL tote for spending over $100. Sugarcane Mojito Bar, wish I would have tried some mojitos but no I stuck with wine all cruise long... Bayamo Restaurant - I was going to dine here until I looked at the menu and nothing was so appealing to me to spend an extra $70 and they had openings most of the cruise however, I tried every day to get into Le Bistro and was even on a waiting list from the first day but I never got in (so disappointing!). CruisinHarvey Posted December 28, 2015 #55 Share Posted December 28, 2015 Didn't appear to us that Bayamo is going over very well. We were at the Mojito bar most every night, to see Bong, at different times. It was never crowded, except the last night. Some folks having a last night treat, I suppose. NoahtheRed Posted December 28, 2015 #56 Share Posted December 28, 2015 Bayamo was a mixed bag. We too were at Sugarcane most nights and while Bayamo was never empty, it was also never full. Pichos....however....that's a whole lot of central real estate not getting used. I think in the entire week, we never saw more then 4 or 5 people there. pambo Posted December 28, 2015 #57 Share Posted December 28, 2015 We were on the same sailing and also at the Mojito Bar every night. I have to agree that it doesn't seem as though Bayamo and Pinchos are very popular spots. Mojito Bar however....the best thanks to our favorite bartender, Bong! Oh I hope Bong is still there in February!! He was great on the Getaway... his fake mouse (made with a napkin and lime) running across the bar was hysterical! CruisinHarvey Posted December 28, 2015 #60 Share Posted December 28, 2015 Oh I hope Bong is still there in February!! He was great on the Getaway... his fake mouse (made with a napkin and lime) running across the bar was hysterical! He'll still be there. He said he'd be there until sometime in March. He got extended 2 months. We're on the Feb 6th cruise, so we'll be seeing him again then. He wore his Super Bong cape and crown on the last night of our cruise Dec 12th. He also had a wig that made him look like a heavier Tina Turner. It was pretty funny. He's just a great bar tender.
VegasChic Posted December 29, 2015 Author #61 Share Posted December 29, 2015 And the lovely chandelier is diamond white this morning.... La Cucina - Of all the Norwegian ships I've been on, this was my favorite version of La Cucina, it looked so nice I actually wanted to dine there but again no reservations available! The Humidor - My hubby is a cigar smoker and spent some time in here, he said there were other guys in there and they chatted a bit.
VegasChic Posted December 29, 2015 Author #62 Share Posted December 29, 2015 We are wanting to do Alaska!! The airfare was crazy for us 4 when I checked!! It's definetly on our list. That would be a new one for us! Our previous are Disney and NCL. Yeah I've been checking airfare every few days so that when the price is right I can book it. That is a nice itinerary curious to hear about Harvest Cay. I absolutely loved Roatan (been there twice). Cozumel is fun we always rent a car and beach hop! When we were in Costa Maya on the Epic we just hung out at the port where the huge pool is, we spent the day in the pool. It's a nice itinerary:)
VegasChic Posted December 29, 2015 Author #63 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Pool Time.... Out of focus picture (using my cell phone) but this is where I sat to watch my daughter in the pool. Kids running by, some were purposely splashing me I had to laugh and make the best of it. It could be worse I could be home working and stressing! I could have gotten in with her but I was not in the mood, just wanted to relax a bit. After a few hours of being on punishment, I called my husband to have lunch! VegasChic Posted December 29, 2015 Author #65 Share Posted December 29, 2015 The family pool was not too busy... Photo tip: For clear and crisp pictures with your cell phone camera always wipe the lens it makes a big difference. The picture below is not very clear for this reason Headed to the buffet but preferred to eat elswhere...
VegasChic Posted December 29, 2015 Author #66 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Headed to Pinchos for lunch and let me tell you it was delicious!! Why this place does not have more action I don't know but we devoured and loved everything! This and Cagneys were my favorite restaurants considering I did not eat at Le Bistro, La Cucina, Bayamo and MDR. My hubby ordered the local beer... and the yummy Manchego Cheese with green apples and Dulce de Leche dipping sauce (heavenly!!!)

VegasChic Posted December 29, 2015 Author #68 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Scallops - Hand dived Atlantic Scallops parsley olive oil!! (So goooood!) The aftermath!! Lol, we ate it all!! The service was quick and the food was amazing!! We went back there on the last night of the cruise for dinner!
kimala Posted December 29, 2015 #69 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Thanks for the great review and pictures. The food at Pinchos looks amazing! I wonder why it doesn't seem more popular. Do you think that the "small plate" concept at Food Republic overshadows it maybe?
Yorkvillain Posted December 29, 2015 #70 Share Posted December 29, 2015 Pincho! Wow. That food looks amazing. I wasn't even considering this place until your review. Now I definitely have to go there. Thanks for the great photos and review.
Mouse's Shadow Posted December 30, 2015 #71 Share Posted December 30, 2015 Why does O'sheehans close at 2? I thought it was supposed to be open 24 hours?Does that mean that there is a 3 hour window when no complimentary service is available?

MIDWEST-CRUISER Posted December 30, 2015 #74 Share Posted December 30, 2015 Why does O'sheehans close at 2? I thought it was supposed to be open 24 hours?Does that mean that there is a 3 hour window when no complimentary service is available? O'sheehans and all restaurants and bars close for safety drill. All crew help with the drill so they need to close at 2 on first day so crew can get ready for drill.
CalLuvsCrusingToo Posted December 30, 2015 #75 Share Posted December 30, 2015 WHY We never stopped to eat at Pinchos, was because of the fishy odor there. Odor was very noticiable to me, but then again, I've been told my nose is Too good. lol
