Prepurchased OBC vs Promo OBC

As part of our booking promo, we will have $300 OBC from NCL. Additionally, I will be purchasing $2000 in OBC before we sail to take advantage of the favorable exchange rate we are locked in at. My intent is to take most of the $2000 out in cash from the casino to pay for tips, excursions, etc.

From what I understand, the $300 from NCL is non refundable, and neither are you able to use it in the casino or take it in cash. My question is this: how does your onboard account get charged when it contains a mixture of prepurchased funds, as well as those given as a promo? If we were to purchase some alcohol, or a cake from the bakery, or some such thing, does the charge go against the purchased OBC first, or against the the OBC we were promoed from NCL? If I attempt to take out cash from the casino, will they do this, or refuse because part of my OBC has been promoed (even though I only want to cash out the part I have purchased)? At the end of the cruise, if there is still a balance in the account, will NCL say that it is the promoed amount and therefore non-refundable?

I just want to make sure I have all my ducks on a row, and thank you in advance for your input!

How does that work as I am not sure I get it? I would like to take out $2000 too and take advantage of the exchange rate too, but if I was to call and ask for the OBC and put it on my Visa, how do I get the favourable exchange rate? yes, I know i'm confused:confused:

I've read on here that the casino charges you 3% for cashing out you OBC, you should find out if this is true as you might not be saving any money. Also if you have any OBC they reimburse you via check that can take several weeks.

If the casino charges for cashing your OBC I don't think I would do it this way. I would calculate how much I usually spend on board and get OBC for this amount. I would then track the exchange rate and buy some dollars at the best rate I could get.

My bank is currently charging me 1.41 to purchase USD. $2000 at this price will cost me $2820.

My exchange with NCL is 1.11, with the additional fee of 3% let's call it 1.14. $2000 at this price is $2280. Enough of a difference to make one sit up and take notice.

You have to purchase your OBC through NCL - it will be converted into CAD at the rate you bought your cruise at. If you purchased your cruise in USD, then... you are out of luck.
