Doing a b2b and your thoughts

If I have to fly to a port and the cruise is less than 10 days, I almost always do a B2B and I love them. Now that I am retired, it is so much easier to schedule.

Clearly there are ports I would have to fly to if I wanted a cruise from there....like Baltimore on Grandeur as we consider a New England cruise. We are lucky that we live within a short drive to two ports in S. Florida. But a B2B out of S. Florida would be of less interest, so when we take a B2B it will be from somewhere else that we have to fly to, and then maximize the investment in the airfare -- but that will mean it will wait until after retirement.

There are no ports close to us. We usually drive to New Orleans and that is a 10 hour drive. We drove to Galveston at end of November and that was 15 hours. We would normally fly if it is that far, but Galveston is not an easy port to transport to so we decided to drive. We are flying to Fort Lauderdale at first of March to board the IOS for our first on an RC cruise. Both my husband and I received a 5 day cruise from our local casino and since it is so expensive to fly to FL we combined them into a B2B. We let them go several years in a row and decided to combine them this time. We'll see! At least they are different ports. Cozumel and Costa Maya and then Labadee and Falmouth.

Ten days (11) with getting there a day before will be the longest for us. I'm usually ready to go home from any vacation after a week. Our longest cruise so far was 8 days on the Breeze from Miami. We are retired so all we need to do is get someone to feed the dogs, haha

A question for experienced B2B's.

Going on a Jewel T/A April 28. Booked months ago, now we decide to go on the short 4 day prior on April 24 and make a B2B. Same cabin not available. What is the plan at Ft. Lauderdale, and what to do with luggage that day?

Thanks

You would normally have to pack only your items that are not hanging in your closet. The stateroom attendants will move your bags and hanging items to the new stateroom. It's a good idea to discuss the process with your old and new stateroom attendants early in the first cruise.

You will have to get off the ship briefly, go through customs, and then get back on.

April 28th will be your turnaround day between cruises. You will need to pack all loose items in your luggage but clothing in the closet can stay on hangers. Your cabin attendant will move everything for you to your new cabin. It is a good idea to meet your new cabin attendant for the TA before the 28th and inform them of the cabin you are moving into.

On turnaround morning you will have to be up to have breakfast along with all departing guests. You will be given a letter with instructions as to where to meet so that you can be taken off, go through customs and immigration and then return to the ship. Your new SeaPass Cards will be given to you at this time. You will have access to your cabin even though new arriving guests do not. Just open the fire doors if they are closed. Your SeaPass account for the 4 day cruise will be closed on the morning of the 28th and a new account started for the TA.

We just returned from a b2b2b on Jewel and had a great time. Turnaround days were very efficiently handled.
