cdoobiest Posted December 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2015 I have cruise booked April 2016 on Getaway. I used my Amex Plat which gives each cabin free dinner Le Bistro. Anyone know if I can book and reserve Le Bistro online to reserve dinner times or do I need to wait until I get onboard? I prefer not to go to Le Bistro unless it is truly comped by Amex! :)
Aloha 1 Posted December 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2015 I made a res at Le Bistro and figured once on board I'd use the Amex benefit to cover it. Only thing I'm not clear on is whether the deal between NCL and AMEX sets a specific date like the first cruise night for the freebie.

Once we boarded there was an envelope in our room with two passes for Le Bistro. We had no problem finding a good time to book and eat in the restaurant. Please note, if you have a SDP, the benefit is totally separate from the SDP, meaning, you are essentially getting a meal in one of the specialty restaurants, separate from your package. Not sure if it is worldwide, but I would call and ask about the "Cruise Privileges Program". We have used it for our last 3 cruises and received $200OBC and dinner at Le Bistro! Let us know if you get it :) Receive valuable amenities on sailings of five nights or more with your American Express Card.‡ $100 - $300 per stateroom shipboard credit Additional exclusive amenities unique to each cruise line Receive one extra Membership Rewards® point on each dollar you spend per booking with American Express Travel Call Platinum Travel Service 1-800-525-3355
markf Posted December 30, 2015 #6 Share Posted December 30, 2015 To get the dinner you need to use Amex travel agency and use the platinum card. Using the platinum card with another agency doesnt get you the free dinner.

Ahhh...okay, thanks both. Because I'm booked through Casinos At Sea, I guess I don't qualify. But good to know this is there, in case CAS stop being nice to me. :) Stephen . dijid Posted December 30, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 30, 2015 Anyone know if you can transfer a reservation to AmEx platinum travel? We didn't have the card when we made the reservation, but I'd take the free dinner if I could transfer the reservation and then pay it off on the card. (Cancelling and rebooking would cost us over $1000, so not an option.)

Not in my case :) I book through a TA (not Amex Travel Agency) and I get the Onboard credit AND the free dinner. I just ask my TA to apply the "CPP" from AMEX and I am good to go. Ahhh...okay, thanks both. Because I'm booked through Casinos At Sea, I guess I don't qualify. But good to know this is there, in case CAS stop being nice to me. :) Stephen . Why not try with CAS and see if it works?

(Cancelling and rebooking would cost us over $1000, so not an option.) Again, I booked through a TA, not AmEx platinum travel. I also did not have the card until after the reservation, but my TA was able to apply it to all 3 of my booked reservations. :p Edited December 30, 2015 by jvsnana
goldamo Posted February 3, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 3, 2016 To answer a couple of questions here. (In full disclosure, I am a travel agent) The bistro entree is covered by american express. There will be a voucher in your cabin when you arrive. If not, and you do go, simply pay with american express and they will credit you. Several travel agents are able to book cruises with am ex cruise privileges. You do not have to book through am ex travel, but make sure your TA is qualified. This also applies to group bookings. As to the question if changing credit cards, if you have not paid final payment, you can put that on your am ex card and it will qualify you. Enjoy your cruises. I will be on the escape in April, looking forward to it.
