Once I landed in New Orleans I picked up my rental car and headed for my hotel for the night

Gotta love the smell of Bourbon Street in the morning....it is definitely a smell that sticks with you

This is the Four Points by Sheraton hotel on Bourbon Street. I wanted to get a picture of this hotel because I am staying here later this month before our cruise on the Carnival Dream. I have always wanted to stay here

 

It wouldn't be New Orleans without a street performer

It wouldn't be a trip to New Orleans without seeing a streetcar

 

My first lunch in New Orleans was at Copelands. I went to lunch with a great friend of mine who lives in New Orleans. I love red beans and rice in New Orleans

 

So after spending my first morning and early afternoon in New Orleans I drove out to Baton Rouge. I was going to be spending the next two days of my vacation out in Baton Rouge with friends

 

Me and Dana. Dana is in the Krewe and would be going on the cruise in a couple days

 

A trip to Dana's isn't complete without her GUMBO. Oh it is sooooo good

After our bellies were full of GUMBO we headed to Chucks Bar in Addis, LA. Chucks is owned by my friend Linda. So you know what that means....free drinks ;)

So Friday, December 4th I headed back to New Orleans to do some sight seeing and eat some good food

 

I couldn't think of a better place to go for lunch

 

Gotta have the Monsoon at Port of Call

 

Burger and a Baked Potato....don't look for fries here you will get laughed at

 

The next time you're in New Orleans you have to go to Port of Call....the food is AMAZING

Stayed their last February for our first ever cruise. Good hotel, great service. You will definitely be in the middle of the action on a Saturday night during Marde Gras...

 

 

We have a Toulouse Street balcony room. We are staying here on Saturday night. On Friday night we are staying at the Hilton Riverside.

We're having a pre-cruise meet and greet on Sunday night at Pat O's so this will be a great hotel to people watch all the people on Bourbon Street

I was also sorry to hear about your dad. I have read your reports of the fun you had with your dad and decided I would love to go on one of your cruises.

 

We were in process of booking this cruise when my friends daughter announced that was about the time her triplets would be born. Long story short, we didn't book on your dates. We are leaving Jan 23 on this same cruise. Can't wait to read your report.

 

Maybe our paths will cross some day.

 

 

Yes I remember you from our roll call leading up to the cruise. We had a fun time. Too bad you weren't able to join us.

Sorry to hear of your loss, I saw you and your dad on the Dec 2012 Sensation cruise ( I didn't approach you both cause I didn't want to seem like a crazy person :) ), prior to that I always would read your reviews and loved that you and your dad was best of friends. Glad you still chose to travel and He will always be with you and each cruise will be a way to remember all those times you spent together. Hugs to you and your family <3

 

 

Yes I remember you from the Sensation roll call. Have you been on another cruise since then?? And you wouldn't have been a crazy person...that's how ya meet people.

Brianna...so sorry for the loss of your Dad...I know he must have been a special person....thank you for doing a review...I have sailed the Elation twice and she is one of my favorite Fantasy class ships!!

 

 

Yes he was very special. I never realized how many people loved my dad. He was a great man.

I love Fantasy class ships. There's just something about the layout of those ships that I like. It's easy to find your way around

I don't think I have to tell you how much I love your reviews and always look forward to them, but I know this one will be tough, so take all the time you need. I know the past couple of months have been very hard, unimaginable to me, and I've been thinking of you and your mom. When tough losses happen (I've been through it), it's tough to stand alone...sometimes impossible to stand alone. Others are needed for support until that day comes again that you can stand alone and the timing is different for everyone. It's so nice to hear that you have a whole Krewe supporting you and I'm looking forward to this review and also the fun times and antics I'm sure you had.

 

 

Thank you Holly for all of your support over the last 2 1/2 months. It means the world to me to have friends like yourself who care. You're right this will be a tough review but my dad would want me to do it to share my fun vacation with my cruising friends.

I've had some amazing friend support over the past 2 1/2 months. If it wasn't for their support I don't know where I would be.

We definitely had some antics on this cruise...oh just wait [emoji23][emoji12][emoji6]

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I am so sorry to hear about your father, it is evident in all of your previous reviews that he was your best friend. Losing a parent is tough, and we are all here for you. I know he was with you spiritually, and will be on all of your future cruises.

My dad was my best friend. That may never change. We did so much together. There's a lot of time when I find myself still talking to him...that may sound strange but I guess it's a way for me to still let my dad know that I'm doing OK.

I am so very sad for your loss. We cruised together on the Dream repositioning cruise. I haven't been on the boards in awhile (I was researching like crazy on a different site because we planned a last minute trip to Disney). I came back to the boards & was looking for recent reviews (I just LOVE reading cruise reviews) & was shocked & so sad to see this :(. I am very happy to hear that you still went on the trip, that is what your dad would have wanted & it sounds like you have a great support group! Looking forward to reading your review but will definitely miss your dads smiling face in the pictures! Hugs & prayers during this difficult time.

 

 

Yeah my dad's death come as a shock. He had been fighting with the dialysis but we had it under control. An infection is what he couldn't fight no longer.

I thought long and hard if I still wanted to go. But he would want me to go and have fun with my friends so that's what we did.

I am so sorry to hear your dad passed away. I absolutely adore your wonderful reviews and always envy the close relationship you two have. It's a true blessing. My dad and I shared a bond was one that just brought us so close. We did so much together. I feel empty without him here.
