? about buying OBC for someone

I am curious as to the best way to buy OBC for someone.

We will be on a cruise next month and want to buy some OBC for someone traveling with us. Can I use my RC Visa points to buy it, do I call Royal and ask to have it applied to their reservation or do I do it when we check in?

 

Which why would work best?/

You can use Royal's Visa points website to redeem the points. In the "Notes" field, enter the booking number to which the OBC should be applied.

In addition to the above info:

 

this Christmas received gift certificates and it states right on it

"Just remember to redeem it at least 14 days before your sail date. And if you want to redeem it for onboard credit, just be sure to do that at least 10 days before sailing."

 

I do not know if this works the same with the Rewards points

I believe you can redeem Visa rewards points for OBC up to 3 or 4 days before the cruise.
