dogchopper Posted January 4, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2016 Ok, I have a cruise in 2 weeks on the conquest out of fort Lauderdale. I have everything going set as to getting on the ship. But when we get off we need to stay an extra day before we fly home. I have found that hotels are VERY high, and ones that have airport shuttle service are even worse. I was going to rent a car at the airport, take a shuttle to the airport to pick up the car and drop it off the next day. But boy is the bill adding up quick. A crappie 2 star hotel is 150 bucks, plus 40 for the rental car. If I get a hotel with a shuttle, how do I get from the cruise port to the hotel? Anyone have any tips. Cruisin Broad Posted January 4, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2016 I believe there are some hotels that offer pick up service from the port for a fee. Another option is to take a taxi to the airport and then call the hotel for the shuttle to pick you up from the airport.
dvond Posted January 4, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2016 This is a great affordable shuttle service I have used multiple times gomjstrans@comcast.net
firemanbobswife Posted January 4, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 4, 2016 I agree with the taxi. They will be plentiful and not expensive. It's been a while since I went out of Ft Lauderdale so I don't remember what the rates are.

Humm Or you could just take a taxi from the port to the hotel. And then the shuttle or taxi to the airport the next day.

Most hotels list shuttles under "Amenities" or "How to get to our hotel" or something like that.

dogchopper Posted January 4, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted January 4, 2016 (edited) What?! When are you going? What about changing flights home? I have been trying to find a way to cancel my flight thru my trip insurance and just drive. It would save me a ton of money. But aside from telling a huge fib to my doctor to get a note saying I cannot fly, I cant think if any way out. I am booked with allegiant air and you can't switch cuz they only fly a few days a week which is why I planned to stay an extra day. I just didn't expect hotels to be so expensive. My fault for not checking that  A hotel in Fort Lauderdale on a Saturday night is about 200 unless you get a real sketchy one. I really thought January was off season, I guess I was wrong there too Edited January 4, 2016 by dogchopper

I'm in sticker shock. I'll have to pay for a cab or rent a car and pay for a hotel. Ugh... won't make this mistake twice that's for sure

Days Inn Hollywood Fort Lauderdale Airport have rooms for $154 that include Airport & cruise port shuttle but I believe they charge $10 for the cruise port shuttle. But at least with that you would not require a rental car unless you just desire to get one.

sfaaa Posted January 4, 2016 #24 Share Posted January 4, 2016 Blame Madonna concert fans for taking up all the hotel rooms that weekend. I originally booked on a Carnival cruise leaving Jan 24/16 but switched to Dec 2015 when I couldn't find any affordable hotel room. Hotel prices were already this crazy when I started looking 6 months ago.
