Bar setup ahead of time different than buying a bottle at the bar?

Is there a difference in price or is it just the convince of having it in your room and the mixers ready to go? I saw the latest pictures of the bar menus and the pricing per bottle looks to be just in line with what it would be if I bought it now, so is there a difference in price or do the addons add the extra value?

I have the soda package so getting soda for mixers really isn't that big of a deal, but if I can save money buying a bottle now vs on the ship I'll go ahead and do that.

I have no recent experience with bar set-ups, but it used to be that the service charge if you ordered in advance was only $3 per bottle, whereas if you buy a bottle on board, you pay the 18% bar charge. And I don't know if you still get free mixers and garnishes if you buy a bottle from a bar on board.

Pre-ordered a bottle of liquor and bar setup on Breakaway and Epic. I think price works out about the same, but saved the 18% and got three mixers (sodas) and three condiments. UBP usually makes this unnecessary, but 3rd & 4th in our room didn't get UBP.

I always just called the regular reservations line and they were able to take care of it.

Did they mail or provide you with the latest price list or do you need to review with all of them on the call?

No UBP for us this trip, wine is going to bring some wine, I will get a bottle (or two?) and it will still be cheaper than the change in price plus gratuities we wold have spent on an upgrade to the package.

Someone may have posted the current list of brands and prices somewhere here on CC, but if not, you can call and ask them to e-mail the info to you.
