Rhonbru Posted January 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2016 I have brought 3 lots of casino credits....1 for husband to use at the casino. the other two I learnt that you can cash in for money, I did this because the us$ exchange rate that princess is giving aussie when buy OBC is much better than we can get here for cas, I need us currency for tips and a tour that I booked in Cambodia, I have read on a facebook page that casino credits are now added to OBC .l...is this true then why do they have a extra section to buy casino credits if this is going to happen......how will I get the extra us currency on the ship now we are on the princess sapphire
LeeW Posted January 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2016 Casino credits are little certificates that will be in your room when you arrive. You take these to the casino cage and exchange for cash. Nothing to do with onboard credits, which you can also buy before sailing. Two problems with casino credits. First, largest denomination is $100. It was a real pain to order $3000 worth because the Princess phone rep had to enter the data for each of 30 certificates. And they gave us one too few certificates onboard, so we eventually got the missing one back on our credit card. Second, can only redeem these in the casino. If casino isn't open, you can't get your money. And you do need to redeem them all before they close the casino books on the last night.
Timbles Posted January 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2016 The website when ordering these now says that it will be given as OBC, which sounds like no more pieces of paper as was in the past when it specifically said 'casino vouchers'. To the OP, this now requires an extra step in getting cash. You will need to create a slot account, charge money to that account via a slot machine, then ask to 'cash out' your card at the cashier cage. Daddysbaby Posted January 9, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 9, 2016 Hi Folks. I just got off of the Regal Princess on Jan 3rd. Due to the good on board rate versus the Bank rate on the Canadian dollar, I put a good chunk of money onto my Casino account. Now, granted, I do gamble in the Casino just about every night, I did not have any problem when cashing out my "chits". As posted above, yes, you do receive a large stack of "cards" that you need to bring to the Casino. They will have a corresponding stack at the cashier desk with your name on them. You will need to sign both "cards" when you cash them out. I usually cashed out 4 or 5 hundred per night. I'm sure, I could have cashed out the entire stack at anytime, but I chose to do it over several nights. Also, for those who just want to put money on their regular shipboard account and still gamble in the Casino, there is no longer a 3% service fee to charge money onto your shipboard account while you are playing at the tables. Good Luck and Bon Voyage!!

I don't find that after scavenging around. When you order (pre-pay) casino credits, cards are placed in cabin for embarkation and you take those to the casino cage to turn into cash. That said, it is possible Princess is changing the procedure - I just don't see it.
Timbles Posted January 9, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 9, 2016 You don't see it because you don't have an open booking, I've been buying vouchers for cruise credits for years, but used the form and faxed it in. Now that you can purchase them within the booking, the statement about it appearing as onboard credit is new. I board the Emerald in a couple weeks, I will report back what the real deal is.:D
Rhonbru Posted January 9, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted January 9, 2016 when I brought my casino credit it was under a section called casino credit....when I brought OBC it was under a different section under gifts. so I am hoping the old rule is still in use where we can cash our voucher for cash

I was going to buy extra casino credits and cash them out during the cruise, to avoid taking a lot of cash with us. We could cash out the card when needed, just not sure it's worth the hassle. If this is the way they are going, be interested to see how they separate it from any other OBC.
joe d Posted January 9, 2016 #11 Share Posted January 9, 2016 I am going on a cruise later this month. On my Cruise Personalizer, under "On Board Reservations" there is a separate section for "Onboard Credits" and "Casino Credits" but the heading under Casino credits says "Credits appear on your stateroom account and are automatically applied toward Casino spending". Timbles Posted January 9, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 9, 2016 Casino credits are not showing there, only in the area that shows onboard purchases/reservations, including the water package I bought. I printed that page to bring onboard to compare to my folio.
Steelers36 Posted January 9, 2016 #14 Share Posted January 9, 2016 I did have the ability to order stuff online when we cruised in November. I acknowledge there could be TWO ways the casino thing is working now. I phoned mine in, and I had the $100 cards in my room to cash in at the cage. Interesting if they have a way in the passenger folio application to separate OBC's and spending against each type because "regular" OBC is not allowed for casino spending. At the top it says: “Credits appear on your stateroom account and are automatically applied toward Casino spending." No issues when I called but I also am not showing the wording mentioned in in earlier posts so will be very interested in anyone letting us know if the process has changed. mina Posted January 10, 2016 #24 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Also be aware that on our last cruise they locked my card from the casino because I put the card into a slot, downloaded 100 and then transferred it back to my card without played no the machine. When I. Asked they told me they are doing that now to try and stop people from using the casino as a way to get cash without playing.
craftsrdkc Posted January 10, 2016 #25 Share Posted January 10, 2016 OK, Mina...talk me through this. How easy is this system? How do you create an account on the slot machine? Did you have to put all $100 on the machine or could you just have put a small amount? I assume you do not "cash out" like you used to with the old slot machines. So how do you "cash out"? How easy is it to put the "winnings" back on the card and when you take the card back to the cashier is that when you cash in your "winnings"? Thanks for the info. Going in March. Not sure if I trust this system, but really want to call Princess soon and get casino credits like everyone else.
