We sail on Carnival out of Miami at the end of March and return on April 3rd. We are flying Southwest out of Fort Lauderdale and our flight doesn't leave until 7 at night. Does anyone have any suggestions on something to do for the day. We plan on staying on the ship as long as possible but that still leaves a lot of time. Please keep in mind that we will have our luggage so we are hoping that we could do a tour or something that the operator has the ability to store our luggage. I know that Carnival has a couple of excursions but they start very early and end early so we would still have a lot of time to waste.

Thanks

Jeff

Several options that are discussed here very regularly.

First, the cruise line excursion idea. Are you sure Carnival doesn't have one that ends around 4 or 5pm?

Second, the option for a program like Luggage Direct, which takes your bags from your cabin, and you don''t see them until your home airport.

Third, the car rental idea, which puts your basg in the trunk, and allows you to roam as you see fit.

Listen to Bruce -- I vote for option #3

Avis, Dollar and Hertz have downtown Miami locations close to POM (maybe a $12 cab ride). National, Thrifty & Alamo offer free shuttles from POM to their MIA airport location -- show the driver your reservation paperwork to board the shuttle.

Last time we had a big gap we rented a car & went to the Miami Zoo for the day. It was fun. The luggage was safe & we didn't have to deal with sand. The zoo is south & FLL is north so that may be a consideration.

We also went to a tourist attraction called Coral Castle which was good for about 1/2 hour & not worth the price of admission.
