Cabin for 5 on Oasis Class

Recommended Posts

We booked a cruise on IOS and found a neat cabin (8200) for 5. It is a Family Oceanview. Now I am looking to book a cruise on Oasis Class ship ( I think they are a neat looking ship). Is there any hidden gems for cabins that I should be looking at for 5 (DH DW DD15,DS12,DD10) you know the ones that fill up fast cause smart people use Cruisecritic for info?

Once you find a cabin for 5 make sure that you compare the cost of that with the cost of 2 connecting or side by side cabins. You might be pleasantly surprised and have more space and 2 bathrooms.

We have found many times that it has been cheaper for our family of 4 to get 1 balcony and an inside across the hall for cheaper than it would be for all 4 of us in a balcony.

Really, WOW. It would seem odd to get 2 cabins for 2 cheaper than 1 for 4. Usually 3rd and 4th guest is cheaper than 1 & 2. That is awesome. We really liked the idea of the cabin we found on IOS, separate sleeping room for the kids away from Dad and mom. All 5 of us for 5 days during Christmas break for $3600.

Thank you,

I am quite sure there is several Family Balconies but I am looking for the "You got to get this cabin" cabin. For reasons such as extra sleeping area, mini suite classed as a balcony.

Really no secret cabins on Oasis like there are on the Freedom class. The ones John mentioned (deck7) are about as good as you get. 290 sq ft family balcony that sleeps 6. Unless you want to break the bank and go for one of the. Aquatheatre suites.

I thought i gave her what she wanted, just missed the deck a little :o Looks like some on deck 11 as well

the bunk closet layout is pretty much the same as the Family OV she has booked for next year. That deck on 7 has got to be huge.

OP - Oasis also has Family promenades and Royal Family Suites in addition to those Aqua suites. the RFS is often affordable for a group. anything with the word Family in the description is going to have separete sleeping areas

3rd and 4th are "cheaper" than 1st and 2nd when looking at pricing details of a specific cabin, but cabins for 4 are usually in a more costly category than cabins for 2.

For instance, Large interiors which accommodate 2 may be in category L or M. Large interiors which accommodate 4 may only be in category K which is more costly. So If you pick a cabin for 4 the 1st and 2nd passengers will typically cost more in a K category than those same 1st and 2nd passengers would cost in a category M room. It is the same size room, they just charge more per 1st and 2nd passenger because it is a different category. Plus if it is a high demand time the 3rd and 4th passengers may not get much of a discount. Especially during times when school is out (Christmas, Spring Break, Summer) when cabins for 4 are in high demand, it is often only slightly more costly or even cheaper to get 2 cabins for 2 instead of 1 cabin for 4. You get double the space and double the bathrooms for a similar price.

It doesn't always work out like this, but it is always something we look at when we bring the kids along. We've ended up booking 2 cabins instead of 1 about half the time because the cost difference was slim to none.

We're on the Navigator for the April 30th sailing and there's 2 adults and 3 kids. We ended up 2 outside balcony staterooms that are connected. There wasn't much price difference between squeezing us all into one room or getting 2 rooms, plus, like someone else here said, you get an additional bathroom, more total balcony space, and all your incentives and OBC's are x2.

We got a family balcony on Harmony during the 30 for 30 sale in June... called back to check on the price of doing 2 connecting, or one across the hall (still in June), ended up actually being cheaper to do 2 balcony connecting rooms than the Family.. I was shocked! But very pleased.. we need the extra space, there are 6 of us!

It is true you can sometimes get multiple cabins cheaper than the family cabins. We had a family cabin for our 6 on the Liberty and really enjoyed it. We were going to get one on the Independence but actually got 3 interior rooms interconnecting between 2 of them for $300 less than it was going to cost for the one single family room with 6 in it. The other bonus is we had more floor space and 3 bathrooms instead of only 1 this way. Not saying it is always the way to go (we have a family panoramic booked for next year on the Freedom and are very excited about this), but do look into all your pricing options before settling on a single cabin for 5 people.
