Knight93 Posted January 13, 2016 #26 Share Posted January 13, 2016 I actually have a question about OBC. I'm a fairly new cruiser, and my boyfriend and I have $50 OBC for our upcoming cruise. Do they automatically take it off your bill, or do you have to ask them to use it on whatever you'd like to use it on? How does it work? Thanks :)
Donh44 Posted January 13, 2016 #27 Share Posted January 13, 2016 Don't understand how one can say that they use their OBC for any particular thing. It's not like when you make an on board purchase, you have the option of designating where that amount comes from. It's just charged to your account. If you have an OBC credit, that charge reduces that credit. And on and on until OBC is used up. Then the S&S balance due starts increasing. Agree 100%. Just glad that it is there.

Thanks :) Welcome to cruising and to Cruise Critic!:) It will show up automatically on your S&S account, and be deducted from your total balance due. But you might want to take a print-out showing your OBC (should be in your e-docs) onboard with you, just in case it doesn't show up - I have known people that this happened to.;)
john91498 Posted January 13, 2016 Author #31 Share Posted January 13, 2016 We have never had OBC on carnival so ...... Never ever? We're sitting on $200 right now without even trying.
right trip Posted January 14, 2016 #32 Share Posted January 14, 2016 For me, it's to help pay for my huge bar tab...lol... Usually, my bar tab is larger then my cruise fare...:) Make-up in the gift shop. Cost is less than Macy's or Belk's. Bobbie
Swampbaby Posted January 14, 2016 #33 Share Posted January 14, 2016 Pictures is where ours will go. Have prepaid gratuities and excursions - except for one that is cash on land. Enough OBC to cover pictures and since those are planned, that is one less thing to come out of my pocket at the end.
teddybear231 Posted January 14, 2016 #34 Share Posted January 14, 2016 Had a $25 OBC last time, used it for the social media package.
mumtopugs Posted January 14, 2016 #35 Share Posted January 14, 2016 Used to be the Red Frog Pub but this go round, I'm growing a tiny human, so I'm not sure what it'll be. Good dilemma to have.
Out of Iowa Posted January 14, 2016 #36 Share Posted January 14, 2016 I am hoping for some this time since it seems like we paid a lot for our cruise fare this time.

Obviously that is what happens, but you don't need to be a wet blanket. We're using ours for a Behind the Scenes tour. RoyalVisit Posted January 14, 2016 #39 Share Posted January 14, 2016 Non-boozer here :D, so gratuities mostly.
Warm Breezes Posted January 14, 2016 #40 Share Posted January 14, 2016 Depends on what we purchased on that cruise. Sometimes a couple of drinks or a picture or 2 or something from the shops or an excursion through Carnival. It is more than likely different on every cruise.
