Dutyfree smart phones

Recommended Posts

You might save a little money, and lose more in the long run. Many of the phones (cameras, electronics, etc) sold in the Caribbean are discounted because they are what is known as "Grey Market" merchandise. Although genuine, these items are generally purchased in Asia and are not intended for sale in North America. This means that the manufacturers warranty is often not included or honored. So if that phone breaks a few days after you purchase it....good luck in getting it repaired or replaced!

Is it worthwhile shopping for Cellphones in St. Martin or Aruba for a Samsung Galaxy S6 or Note 5 Smart Phone? Can anyone estimate the savings or the cost?

Thanks. Melissa

If you're trying to save money on buying a Smart Phone, you'd be better off looking on line for a factory refurbished phone. It will be cheaper than buying one at store in your area, and will come with a manufacturer's warranty.
