doones2 Posted January 15, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2016 We havent been on a cruise that included Labadee in quite sometime. What happen to the quiet, relaxing island where you can do nothing but float on a mat or possibly do a waverunner for excitement. I was just reading the excursions and it sounds like its an amusement park now and the prices are crazy. RCCL knows that there are no other options for excursions like you would have on other islands. We partially booked this cruise because Labadee was on it. Please reassure me that Labadee will not be a disappointment.
MommaBear55 Posted January 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2016 It is totally possible to get two loungers under a Palm tree and just laze the day away. We float in the, water, drink an occasional Labadoozie, wander to the BBQ when we get around to it and avoid the shops. We choose itineraries to include Labadee because it is so relaxing. Each time we say "we should do the Dragon coaster or go parasailing", then we look at each other and say nope, not this time.

Private islands ("island" in the case of Labadee) are generally considered beach days, and excursions are definitely NOT required. Many people don't spend a penny on the private islands. Remember the cruise lines are in the business to make money, and a private island where no revenue is generated is not a wise business plan. After a little research here, and perhaps on the RCI board, if YOU set your expectations too high...whose fault is that? We save the excursions for the other islands.
danskerlady Posted January 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I had planned a beach day on Jan. 16 when Celebrity Silhouette was there BUT I ended up taking the New World Private Yacht excursion and loved it. 20 passengers on a lovely private yacht, a friendly and knowledgeable crew. We sailed and then anchored and many of us swam off the boat. Really relaxing and fun. You almost felt like it was your own boat.
