Disembarking Civitavecchia - Earliest Flight

We arrive in Civitavecchia at 7am. What is the earliest international flight we can make? How far from the port to FCO airport?

The very common discussion on this board is that you should allow an hour to get to the airport, and that 11am is a reasonably safe "earliest" flight. Additionally, if your flight is direct to the US, you must allow 2 hours to get through the check in and security process.

If you stress (we do) I would book a noon flight.

 

Yes, I know some book as early as 10:30 AM.

 

Last time we arrived this summer there was a problem with the local personnel getting luggage of the ship. This is a rarity but things happen.

 

The drive is around 30 to 40 minutes. Could be longer or shorter depending on driver and traffic.

They do but this varies by cruise lines. If your cruise line allows self disembark than the answer is yes.

 

I just want to add that airports in and outside the USA can be chaotic but to me FCO is one of the more Chaotic ones.

 

I would error on the side of caution when making a reservation.

Thank you. We are cruising NCL and will check with their air/cruise program first before we confirm our flights. I think the only non-stop to my home airport is at 10:30am. I will likely spend an extra day in Rome and fly the next morning.

cookmg40, I think you have made a wise decision.

 

Now some will say you could make a 10:30 AM flight. Maybe you can but maybe you can't and it is because of the maybe that if it was me I would fly the next day.
