Evening Chic days on 14 night Eclipse

Terrific move by Celebrity to cap at two the number of elegant chic nights! More than enough!

It's clear that some cruisers are still unaware of Celebrity's elimination of formal nights / formal wear requirements, so as the news continues to spread, the level of formal wear still on display should thankfully continue to decline.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "the level of formal wear still on display should thankfully continue to decline"? Does it bother you if others dress up?

This information is in our Edocs for our cruise next month.

Not doubting you but I don't see the information in my Edocs for our 3 April Eclipse Cruise. For my own benefit what page is it on? Maybe I need to start wearing glasses. Something I found interesting in reading our Edocs is in two different paragraphs it states you are allowed to bring two bottles of wine per stateroom on embarkation day (I already knew that) but it never states the size of the bottles. I was surprised it didn't specify the 750ml bottle size.

Hi All,

My husband and I have never cruised before. We are excited to be on the Eclipse from 22nd May and have Select dining. Can someone help explain what this means for chic nights please? Should we dress up? We won't be in the MDR and my understanding of select dining is self serving buffet style. Not sure this is practical in long dress and tux. Any suggestions please?

Thank you

Select dining is in the Main Dining Room, but you don't have to eat in the main dining room. Any night you wish you can go to the buffet. This may sound strange to many here but Hubby and I gave up on the main dining room several years ago, even select dining. We either go to the buffet when we wish or go to a premium restaurant. Premium restaurants charge extra, while the main dining room and buffet are free.

Murano is a personal favorite of mine, but it really is a lot of food. We usually want to eat very light meals at night and that is why we don't go to the main dining room. The other reason is we can go to the buffet whenever we want at night. There is no wait, no escort to a table, no drawn out dining.

That said we do follow the ship's dress code for the evening. I have gotten "looks" from some guests when I showed up at the buffet in formal attire, but I don't care. Certainly it is no worse than showing up in the main dining room on formal night in ragged cut off shorts and a flimsy t-shirt. By the way, you might be surprised how many people do go to the buffet at night regularly. Indeed there is a normally a group of regulars who do seem to prefer that choice over the MDR.

No problem. I am seeing it on page 19. The issue may be that there is the full Edoc and also the smaller printer friendly version. I am seeing it in the full Edoc.

Found it. I was looking at only the printer friendly version. Thanks for pointing that out.

Help, I may be having a senior's moment, as I don't seem to be able to find a longer version. :o I'm not after the dress information, but I'm wondering what else I may be missing with my print version. Where do I find the longer document?

Under the first paragraph of your Email from Celebrity there will be a link that says "click here to access your eDocs". Click on that link.

The links were in an email from Celebrity saying that our electronic cruise documents were ready. There was a link for our eDocs and another link for the printer-friendly PDF file. Sorry, I don't know how to get to these documents other than from this email.

Edit: davekathy, I didn't see that you already answered this.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. This all makes sense now and is a relief as it had been explained to us differently when we booked and we understood it was either dining in MDR at a set time or we ate when we wanted but in the buffet restaurant. I am very happy now as I wanted to dine in MDR but without the restrictions. Thanks again. I am also looking forward to dressing up for dinner but pleased it is not mandatory, pressure off a little for us newbies x

Thanks for jogging my memory! I realized after your responses that I never did get the usual email. I'm booked through a TA as part of a group and there have been numerous issues arising from that. Back to the TA to get this one straightened out. :(
