April-in-NC Posted January 21, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2016 Do you have to do a ship tour to get to Red Stripe Beach? We are three weeks out from our cruise and I can't decide where to take our three generation family of 9. 1) Safe 2) Cheap 3) Preferably close to port (Falmouth) because we will have 3 kids under 5 and we aren't sure how long they will last. 4) Shade of some sort, either umbrellas or trees 5) Chairs for rent
mrpayroll Posted January 22, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2016 From everything i have read about Red Stripe, you have to go with a tour. :(
R & T Posted January 22, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 22, 2016 Good place for young children. Return bus runs every hour.
must2cruz Posted January 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 23, 2016 My understanding is that you book it online with your cruise line before you cruise, book it when on the ship or pay for it at the port. We wanted a cheap close beach when we are there in Feb on the RCCL Navigator so we have already booked/paid for it. You can do a search on "red stripe beach" on this site and find a lot of information about it. Have a great cruise!!
Rare whitshel Posted January 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Yes, Red Stripe Beach you have to book through the cruise line, but thats a good thing because only cruise line passengers are there. Its behind a gated area that looks pretty sketchy when you first pull up but then the beach appears and its really really nice. Yes, shade, sun, chairs for rent, food and drink to buy. Very very nice. We were just there a couple weeks ago on Oasis and here are few pics Sketchy when you pull in. Then the beach Edited January 27, 2016 by whitshel

cr11nyoh Posted February 1, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Great pictures Whitshel! How far is the beach from the port?
Rare whitshel Posted February 2, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Only about 10 minutes. We walked down from the main beach, probably 1/2 mile or so and you can see the port.
10th Anniversary Posted March 8, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2016 Thanks for sharing your experience and posting these beautiful pictures. Do you remember how much is was to rent beach chairs and what the average cost of food and drink were? We are on the Allure in May and trying to decide between Red Stripe and Blue Waters Resort. Wondering if paying the extra for Blue Waters Resort is worth it?
cheropita Posted March 8, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 8, 2016 We were just there last week. Chairs, Beer, Wifi, mats are all $5. Not sure about the food. We were totally thrilled going here. You will not be disappointed. Our only issue was getting back. We waited 45 minutes for a return bus :( Everything g else perfect! Moonlighting Posted March 12, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 12, 2016 Great pics - what about snorkeling? I want to do that and my daughter just wants to chill. Only about 10 minutes. We walked down from the main beach, probably 1/2 mile or so and you can see the port.
sunsetme Posted March 12, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 12, 2016 no snorkeling to speak of, but very nice beach, close to the port, clean and safe.
Aggiecruiser01 Posted April 5, 2016 #13 Share Posted April 5, 2016 Thoughts? Is it really worth paying $90 (2 adults, 2 kids) to go to Red Stripe for the day? Or should we just stay on the ship and play- and maybe check out the port (within the bubble)? We will have already been to the beaches at Cayman and Cozumel. thanks! (tough decisions here )
cheropita Posted April 5, 2016 #14 Share Posted April 5, 2016 It is a hard decision. We just took 6 of us there. At first I thought it silly to spend that much but we are all so glad we went. If you really want another beach day this is a really nice spot. No vendors, very safe, everything is new, staff was great! The port area might not be much fun for two children. cheropita Posted April 6, 2016 #17 Share Posted April 6, 2016 I know it is a Royal Caribbean tour. I think you might be able to book once off your ship but not 100% on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
spkinva Posted April 11, 2016 #18 Share Posted April 11, 2016 We were at Red Strip Beach last week. It's a nice beach for cruise passengers only. The bus to get there is a cramped old Asian bus. Chairs are $5. You pay one place and get tickets to give to the chair attendants. Red Stripe Beer is $5. We ordered 2 from a guy who was taking orders but he never brought them so we got our own. The things we didn't like were that there was a DJ playing loud music and we would have rather listened to the waves. Also, there are no palm trees at the beach (if you are into palm trees).
