Scootney Posted January 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2016 I am getting mixed messages regarding how formal the Eurodam dress is on their "Gala Night". It seems in Alaska and Caribbean guys often just wear jacket and tie rather than tux or white dinner jacket. Anyone out there know in Europe... on their Mediterranean cruises? Heading out on a 24 nighter in April. Thanks

Typically, the longer European cruises are a bit more formal that the shorter Caribbean and Alaska 7-day cruises. There will be 3 Gala Nights on your voyage. Have a great cruise. DocF Posted January 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2016 I can tell you that we cruised aboard the Oosterdam last fall. On both formal nights virtually all the men wore either dark suits or tuxedos. A couple of retired military wore their dress uniforms. I would say about 2/3 of the men wore formal attire. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2016 For any of your other Holland America questions you can get a lot of useful information on the HAL Board. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=171 Keith
Rare Crew News Posted January 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2016 HAL's new dress code of Gala Nights is a collared shirt for men as a minimum. My experience on the Oosterdam in November was no more than 20 tuxedos during my dining time. One third suits, one third jackets, and the remaining passengers taking advantage of the new minimum collared shirts. All manners of dressed passengers appeared harmonious. There is a wide gamut of attire possibilities so dress how you feel as long as you meet the minimum. Whatever you choose to wear, you will not be the only one. That makes answering your question a little harder as the changes are still working there way through the system. On a European cruise I would expect you will find a majority of men still wear tuxes or suits.
