Ft. Lauderdale Hotels, Terminal and Off Site Parking

We will be cruising out of Ft. Lauderdale in May and have never left out of that port. What are close by nice hotel recommendations? Also, what is the best way to park, off-site or at the terminal? The hotels that shuttle you seem to be more expensive. Any advice would be appreciated.

We've had very good luck with the Springhill Suites in Dania Beach. Free airport shuttle and free shuttle to the cruise port. They also have a parking package, but I don't know those details.

When in May? What is your budget? Parking at the port is $15/day (http://www.porteverglades.net). Parking at Park n' Go (frequently recommended on this board - just do a search) is less.
