hi there,

I know this might Sound like a stupid question, but I have to ask anyway.

I will be in Miami in October for about 5 days Prior to the cruise.

So I Need some advise on what to do.

Some Facts about me:

- I'm a female Solo traveller

- Miami Beach can be left out as I do that after the cruise

- I will have a rental car

Any suggestions of "must do's"

thanks a lot

I'll start the conversation. Research the area. You don't want to stay in Miami for 5 days with a car. I know we'd for sure look at the Keys. But driving alone wouldn't be my choice. So Id take a bus and stay in Key West for 2 or 3 nights. Very walkable and interesting.

If you make it to KW try to enjoy at least one meal at El Siboney - a family run casual Cuban restaurant I have been enjoying for 30+ years.

In Miami I would look at Coconut Grove for 1 night or so, a fun area with lots of hotels, dining and nightlife.

Zoo Miami is world class

you can drive to Key Largo as a day trip and forever be able to say you visited the Florida Keys .... you can take a snorkel trip here or a glass bottom boat if you don't want to get wet ... http://pennekamppark.com/

Find a La Carreta and have REAL Cuban food .... I mention this place because there are several but also ask the front desk where THEIR fav' Cuban place is. BTW Cuban mom and pops do great breakfast too . . . http://lacarreta.com/

Up scale shopping means 'The Falls' http://www.simon.com/mall/the-falls

Jungle Island https://www.jungleisland.com/ many folk poopoo this place BUT it is the reincarnation of the former Parrot Jungle which was in the Kendal section of Miami and destroyed by hurricane Andrew .... it still has a BIG bird collection appreciated by bird lovers
