Recent Breakaway Haven/Owner Suite thoughts??

Hello all......

Been 5 years or so since I've done NCL. My previous was on a GV - - and I recall seeing plethora of horrible reviews (worst than other mass-market cruise lines)----but I went thru with it anyways and overall, I remember it being a good cruise.

Anyhow, I'm thinking of booking Breakaway in the Haven Deluxe Owner's suite --- and was hoping there's been recent CC members here who have any recent thoughts or observations.

*How was the Butler?

*How was the Concierge?

(Butler and Concierge are very important for us)

*Food - how was Haven, room service, specialties, etc?

General observations - - was it a quality experience or did you feel it was not good?

Appreciate any opinions.... Thanks!

It has been a couple years since we were in BA DOS. Last I heard Virginia was the concierge on BA. Many love her, not us. Butlers rotated rooms every two weeks when we were on. The BA has such a large Haven complex and # of rooms so the concierge at the time (Ruth) was pretty much tied to her desk. She had an assistant.

The room is overall quite nice but our experience was we had quite a bit of noise leakage from the OS next door through the movable curtain where you could easily hear every word when the folks next door had their relatives over to play cards and games each night (not their fault, they were talking normal voice, just bad design).

We were in a DOS on the Breakaway in September.

The suite is lovely. The nicest we have been in on our 40 cruises. Very quiet.

The butler was fine. Did not ask for anything special, but he did his job. vIrginia was the concierge. We had made all reservations before boarding, but she was delightful

Absolutely no complaints.

Hi MerrieM....

As part of the Deluxe Owner's suite - did you get a very good priority boarding, and also, getting off the ship on the last 2 mornings?

On my last NCL cruise - I was in a Garden Villa and the Concierge seemed to know every minute what we needed, or what we were doing. When I had booked my own Disney transport - he personally escorted my Wife down to the waiting car.

On the last morning, again - he personally met JUST us at a pre-scheduled time, walked us all the way to the customs door and it was easier than leaving a shopping all on a weekday.

Curious if you can describe things the Butler or Concierge did to make your stay better.... also, how was Haven Food? Thanks

Yes, we got right on the ship and they had lunch waiting for us. Now getting off the last day was not great. We were taken down a crews elevator, and then basically turned loose. No info where the luggage would be located. We had a car waiting for us, so it certainly could have been better. It was like The cruise is over. Good bye.

Virginia was the concierge and she was delightful. All reservations I had made ahead of time, so there was nothing for her to do for us. However I enjoyed talking with her and the whole staff was very friendly. The butler was fine. I did ask for some different snacks, like shrimp, he said that was not possible. I just let it go. He did his job, and no complaints.

The food in the Haven was okay. Breakfast was always good, lunch needed improvement, dinner was fine. The staff again made it a really nice experience. The dining room was lovely.

We had a very nice time. Wouldn't go again as the mega ships are just too big. Just got off the Sun yesterday, and going on the Pride March 15 San Francisco leaving dry dock back to Hawaii.

The suite is just lovely....

Has anyone been in the Aft Haven Master Bedroom Suite and can comment on that?

Photos would be great if available

What does the the Haven dinner menu feature..is it similar to the MDR menu or more like Cagney's?

Also, how crowded is the Haven area during the sea days for lounging in the sun. Is there a bar for drinks in the area?

Thanks.

Don

We were in an Aft master suite in December (Christmas week) and LOVED it!! The balcony is simply the best ... Loved being able to lay out there and enjoy the views.

The food in The Haven Restaurant is good . The menu does not change but you can ask for different things .. Example daughter wanted choc chip pancakes - we got them !!

The bar area is nice - can sit at the bar, in the lounge area or outside i. the Courtyard area where bar service is also available... All very relaxing

We didn't run into any Haven area to be too busy at any time -- can't wait to go back ... 307 days and counting

Can you provide more information on the Haven's dinner menu?

What do they feature?

Is their outdoor dining available there?

Dexddd....can you describe more your opinions on the concierge? Thanks

If you are asking about Virigina, sure. We had her on the Dawn a few years back. We don't generally use the concierge for much so we only had two requests of her the whole week. Those requests were for dinner reservations at Cagneys and the Asian restaurant later on in the cruise (we asked on day 2).

She said none were available. About two hours later as we were leaving Cagneys for lunch, I asked the receptionist there and she got us right in on the dates/times we had requested earlier to Virginia. In fact, Cagney's was only about 2/3 full the night we went and the Asian place was about 50% full so either she lied to us or was being lazy.

I forgot to mention - if you do a search for user soccerdad he had a nice photo review of one of the BA DOS from Feb. 2014 and I also added a few pics as I recall if you can find that thread.

I'm sorry that I don't have any pics of the menus [emoji852]

I do know that the crab cake Benedict for breakfast [emoji106] can also have filet & eggs ... There is an outside area off the 16th floor but I would not think you would eat a meal out there more like a pool deck area without the pool. You can bring snacks out there though

Here's the link to the aft haven suite on the Getaway, basically the same as the BA.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f132xZXY5FA. This is a deck 9 cabin which is the largest on the BA at 450 square feet. I had 9916 booked but when the H3 opened up I moved to that (our first time in the Haven and I wanted the full Haven experience). As far as the dining room, it is the same menu every night but there is one special each evening as well. From what I have read, it is not crowded and not difficult to find a place to sit. There is a separate lounge for cocktails for Haven guests. There is also outdoor seating in the dining room. I have been scouring the NCL boards for information. We are very excited about this experience. Normally, we book a suite on the Gem....

Here's the link to the aft penthouse on the Getaway, basically the same on the BA.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f132xZXY5FA. The menu in the restaurant is the same every night but each night there will also be a special. There is outdoor dining available. From what I have read, they have lobster, steak, chicken etc. I understand that you can also order from the dining room menu if there is something on there that strikes your fancy. I originally had cabin 9916 booked but when the H3 opened up I switched to that because I want the full Haven experience since it is our first time there; Normally, we have an aft penthouse on the Gem, this is also our first time on the BA. The balcony is smaller (100 square feet) but certainly big enough, especially with the Haven just steps away. Hope this helps.
