You just have to have the same residence address, call C&A, and declare the person your "signficant other". That's it.

I called the Crown and Anchor group and they linked my minor daughters to my Platinum status, even though only one of them has cruised RCCL before. They even said once they turn 18, they will still be considered platinum and basically get a "head start" on their status.
