Pride Questions

My husband and I are cruising on the Pride in May (29). It has been a while since we have been on Carnival and we have never sailed the Pride. Can anyone tell anything that we must NOT miss on ship? What specialty restaurant they would recommend? Any food on the menu that should not be missed? Any tricks or tips that we should know that would be helpful? What is the Hasbro game and is it funny? Does anyone have copies of the Sea Compasses that give all the days activities they can share?

If anyone has any ideas for Nassau and Freeport would love to hear that as well. We are beach people.

I would ask this on my roll call but it is really slow. NOT many folks on it at all. I know folks are using other social media sights, but I wouldn’t even know where to begin for our May 29 cruise.

Thank you in advance for sharing and information that you can.

Steakhouse is your only speciality restaurant. Pride is a wonderfulship.

Hasbro is a game show night in the theater that brings family style games to life and makes then lifesize! So fun

Nassau has Atlantis of course on paradise island. Casino and aquarium. As for a beach. Junkanoo beach is a 10 min walk from Port and it has loungers and drinks

Just google. Carnival Fun Times. And u can see all the daily activities. There are plenty.

The new American table menu on the pride is to each it's own. Most I've seen hate it. Other like me travel out in 24 days to experience it mysekf. To me it's food! And it has a lot of different options. Obviously don't miss elegant night. That's prime rib and lobster night

If u make reservations for David's steakhouse the first night you will get a bottle of free wine

Happy cruising

If you and/or your husband like fish don't miss the Basa plate if they still have it. Had it for the 1st time in August and now it's the fish I buy at the local market, it was that good

Guy's Burgers and the Blue Iguana are great for burgers and Mexican fare respectively! Both are GREAT!! You will love the Pride!

Oh yes! Try the Blue Iguana for their breakfast and lunch burritos. You choose what you want in them yourself. So good I always wanted a 2nd but never got a 2nd one because they are so filling

my favorite area on the Pride is the Serenity adult only area. It has its own pool, hot tub and bar. get there early though because it fills up quick!

the steakhouse is nice and if you go on the first night you get a free bottle of wine (not the greatest selection though...:p) i haven't tried bonsai sushi yet but plan on it in April.

if you go to the bahamas forum section you may be able to get some more ideas on what to do in nassau and freeport. we've been there a few times but never really did anything. walked to junkanoo in nassau once and it was decent for a free beach.

pride is really a great ship. she's our vacation home! :)

Deck 3 forward is the Sunshine Garden Interior Promenade. Very quiet. Not a lot of people find it.

Serenity area at the back of the Lido deck is nice. As someone else said, get there early. There are chairs and couches in the shade.

The free bottle of wine in the Steakhouse is Santa Carolina. We've had the red -- Merlot -- not too bad. They may also offer a 50% off on some of the wines on their wine list.

Alchemy Bar on deck 2 is a nice spot for a before dinner drink.

In Nassau, Junkano Beach is within walking distance from the port. There is gentleman that cooks fresh Jerk chicken right on the beach. Very tasty. And he sells cold drinks and beers.

Enjoy your cruise.

We loved the Alchemy bar, great drinks and bartenders were very fun and invent drinks on the spot....was an entertaining experience.

We love comedy club and go as often as we can (the adults only shows).

Stick to MDR for dinner....we have found the buffets are underwhelming. The Carribbean stew at buffet however is one of my favourite foods on board. As others mentioned Guys Burgers are tasty and Iguana burritos for breakfast are good and very filling.

Sea Day brunches in the MDR were a personal favourite, if having eggs be aware sunny side up is going to result in a very undercooked egg.

Carnival offers a kayak excursion in Freeport that stops at GoldRock Beach....beautiful, isolated beach and your group could be the only ones on the beach.

Enjoy!

We are leaving in 9 days, so I will try to write here when we get back. We are a group of 8 and we are hiring a private boat for a watersports/snorkling excursion in Nassau. In Freeport we are doing the Dolphins.

Really exited to go next week

We have been on the Pride 3 times, with a 4th scheduled for next summer. She is a beautiful ship, great layout, fun to explore. The Serenity Deck is the best, with it's own bar, some shade and a pool. The Red Frog Pub is a lot of fun too. Sea day brunch is a must-do. Have a wonderful time!

We just returned yesterday from the Pride and had an amazing time. In Nassau take the #10 bus to the Melia Resort to spend the day on their beach. It costs $35, but is pretty and has security. Snorkel equipment is included. Bus ride was fun and it was nice to chat with the locals.

Didn't make plans for Freeport, so walked around for a bit and returned to ship to hang out on the Serenity deck.

As others have said, the Serenity deck is the place to be. Get there early.

Go to Red Frog Pub for nightly music. The band, School of Groove, was amazing and fun. Hopefully they will be there in May, but I think they do shorter contracts.

If you like sushi, definitely go to Bonsai. Delicious!!!!

Anna and Desi at the Renaissance Bar are the best. Elena at Alchemy Bar is also awesome.

Hasbro was okay, but short show and they mix kids with adults so that's as fun as it gets. Bingo was fun, my first time and all the nuances were an experience. Didn't see comedians because we chose to go dancing instead. Playlist shows were okay. Kareoke was fun to watch for a bit.

Get Guys Burgers and Blue Iguana. Both excellent!

MDR for sea day brunch. Eggs Benedict were yummy.

If nothing on dinner menu appeals, try the flat iron steak. it turned out to be one of our favorites. Chocolate melting cake is a definite. Skip the pork chop. Calamari, crab cake and conch fritters were great apps.

Get up early and watch sun rise from top deck. Worth it!

If you're going to the gym, go early to get a machine. Skip the "free" tours of spa etc. While they do raffle things, they are all a sales pitch.

If you can still get FFTF (faster to the fun) get it. It helps to get on board and to your cabin early and to get off early along with other perks.

If you have MTD (my time dining) ask to sit along the railing so you can see the singing and dancing waiters. And dance with them, fun!

Remember it's your cruise, so do it the way you want. Have fun!!

Get a Caribbean Colada-it is my new favorite drink! Unfortunately not all the bars will/can make it for some reason. The Red Frog bar and pub have them, and I believe you can get them at the Blue Iguana bar also. HAVE FUN. Pride is a great ship. :)

Thank you thank you Pride cruisers for all the info. Your positive responses have lifted my heart. We sail on the Pride on April 15 and have seen so many negatives on other we sites about the Pride it was becoming discouraging. Now I feel so much better. Thank you....

Just got off of the Pride yesterday. Don't miss Guy's Burgers - absolute best! Ate in the steakhouse one night and that too was just outstanding and well worth the $35 pp. Dinners in the MDR I thought were great. Both staff and food outstanding.

Had FTTF and was well worth it so I would recommend that if it is available.

Nassau we walked to the Colonial Hilton but passes were sold out for the day. We ended up at Breezes. I think it was $80 for the day, all inclusive - including alcohol. Nice beach with cabanas, towels, etc.

Freeport we did the Bahamian Beach House excursion through Carnival. Well worth the money, just a little too short. Small excursion (30 ppl). Nice house with beach directly across street (short walk). This too is all inclusive. They had a staff on site that prepared a Bahamian lunch that was delicious. Snorkeling, paddle-boats and kayaks all available for use with no extra charge. LOVED this excursion.

Have fun. The Pride is a great ship.

We have reservations for the lst night at David's Steakhouse for our cruise in March. Believe it or not, in all our cruises, this is the lst time we have ever eaten at a specialty restaurant! Do you have any recommendations?

Food-wise - I was with eight people and all had a great meal. Most had surf and turf as did I. It was a was petite filet and a large lobster tail - outstanding! My favorite mashed ANYWHERE! I had the lobster bisque and the spinach salad, both great. Not one complaint from any one of us. Desserts are outstanding and I recommend the chocolate sampler. I had the Washington Apples and they were OK.

I have to say you would go far to find a restaurant anywhere on land this good. I would equate it to a meal at Capital Grille or Morton's something on that level. I have been at the steakhouses on all of our Carnival cruises (since they have been available) and have never been disappointed.

If you are going on your first night, I think you will get a free bottle of wine with dinner to make it even nicer!

We went on this cruise for my FILs 90th birthday and they treated him like a prince at dinner. They sang, brought out champagne and even surprised him with a chocolate martini. It was over and above anything expected. Servers were outstanding.

Two things I would mention to you just as an FYI. Make it an evening - our dinner was 3 hours and enjoy every moment. Not the place to go if you have things planned or need rush. Also, we were sitting near the door and a man walked in with three other people and was turned away because he had shorts on. So, while it is not super fancy, shorts won't pass!! I did notice on one of the port days that the dress code was relaxed that evening for the steakhouse. I forget what it specifically said but I can pull out my Fun Times if you want exact wording!

Any other questions on anything, I would be happy to answer.

hods93 Thank you for your post! ^^ I picked the lst night for the free bottle of wine, plus it is a 14 day Journey cruise, so will be port intensive, and I don't want to go to the steakhouse the night before getting to a port early in the morning! Also, I figure after a few days or a week we are going to be so STUFFED that we would not appreciate the food as much. Unfortunately, they changed our sailaway to 6pm and that is the time of our reservations, so we will miss that, but hope to get a table by the window at least. Glad you had such a good experience and a nice birthday dinner for your FIL. Congrats to him on his milestone. :)

Just returned for the Pride on 2/20, this was our fifth Pride cruise. The maitre d' Ken is leaving for the Vista in two weeks, he will be missed. We like the new MDR menu selections, they also have a newer MDR procedure for the waitstaff it is called Speed of Service (SOS), each team has up to 32 individuals to service in the MDR. Our team did well but others struggled at times.

We would only purchase FTTF if there is a tender port.

We love the Pride, their staff is great!
