candydane Posted June 11, 2019 #76 Share Posted June 11, 2019 I see that many people book their next cruise while onboard. Is there usually an ACL rep to discuss the various cruises? If not, how is this booking handled? Thanks.

They usually have an event with refreshments during the cruise to discuss their itineraries. There are staff at the event to help you with your booking and answer your questions. You’ll also receive a brochure in your cabin with all the available cruises as well as a form to get a quote while on board. Turn it in at the event or anytime to the office to receive a quote to book a cruise onboard. You will have the opportunity to review the quote before confirming whether or not you want to book. It is very easy and the best discounts are for booking onboard. Edited June 13, 2019 by SteelMagnolia9
candydane Posted June 13, 2019 #78 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Thanks for the info. Good to know there'll be someone to talk to. We'll be on the American Harmony on our first river boat cruise so many things are new to us. We have a travel agent we have used for years. Do you know how it works if we want to book onboard? Can we book the cruise with ACL while onboard and then transfer our booking to her when we get home? Or will that lose us the discounts?
bhopal21 Posted June 13, 2019 #79 Share Posted June 13, 2019 Yes book your future cruise while onboard in order to receive the discount and then notify your TA after you get home and they can take over the booking without you losing the onboard discount. We have done that several times with no problem and then got an additional discount from our agent on top of that. Mike😊
candydane Posted June 16, 2019 #80 Share Posted June 16, 2019 Thanks. I know that's how it works on ocean cruises so good to know about ACL.
Tom47 Posted July 13, 2019 #81 Share Posted July 13, 2019 Thanks for starting this thread. We were on the Pearl Seas Mist cruise to Cuba in Feb. and booked ACL Columbia river cruise Sept 2020. We received discounts totaling $3000. Pearl Seas is owned by ACL. Charleston-Jacksonville is on our wish list.

We started in Jacksonville because we wanted to spend a few days in Charleston, post cruise. I hope you have, at least, as an enjoyable cruise as we did. bhopal21 Posted August 10, 2019 #83 Share Posted August 10, 2019 We also did this cruise but in reverse (Charleston to Jacksonsville). Did a couple of days pre cruise in Charleston and had a terrific cruise. We chose our route to end up closer to home. Mike😊

In our situation the flights from either Charleston or Jacksonville to Boston doesn't really make much difference. We had been to Jacksonville on other occasions, but not to Charleston, hence our choice. Nice to have easily scheduled options -- not always the situation. SteelMagnolia9 Posted August 11, 2019 Author #85 Share Posted August 11, 2019 I might as well chime in. I was on the Charleston-Jacksonville cruise in 2016 with a friend - beautiful cruise and ports! Put or keep this one on your list.
