CAS perks - not booked as CAS guest

I called CAS yesterday to try and book a cruise on the Getaway for the first week in April and was told that those sailing dates were blacked out or closed out...couldn't get a straight answer as to whether it was due to being too close in time to sail date or high demand because of Spring Break.

In the end, I booked a guarantee balcony through the NCL web site for my family of 4 and was able to take advantage of the Pick 2 promo as well as Friends/Family Sail Free so grand total with taxes and drink package gratuity was about $2500. While I would have preferred a comp cabin from CAS, I was OK with this fare.

I cruised once in the current CAS calandar year and reached Hot level. My questions:

- Since I didn't book through CAS, will my wife and I both have the CAS drink cards waiting for us in our room?

- Will Hot tier perks still happen automatically (gifts delivered to the room, $100 dining credit, etc)?

- If I call CAS now and let them know about the reservation, is there any chance they will upgrade the room category?

Thanks for your input!

So I just called CAS and fortunately only had a few minute hold to get a rep vs. the 20+ minute wait yesterday. He did confirm that the dates were blacked out for a room comp but was able to offer 20% off the fare...resulted in a refund of about $300 off what I paid yesterday. They re-issued the confirmation which now has CASINO RATE listed along with the other promo codes.

As stated before, it doesn't hurt to ask.

That's great! It really doesn't hurt to ask. I usually cruise on comp certificates from Harrah's/Caesars, but after reading advice from others on this site I called and asked too! Found out I could get a cabin on a less popular week. Make sure you call them back after your next cruise to see if you have qualified for any comped cruise. They are happy to check other ships and dates for you.

What is the CAS phone number? I booked a trip on the Escape for next year via the ncl website. I am a Diamond with Harrah's/Caesars and forgot about my discount I can get. Thanks.

877-752-9625...since your cruise is still in the fully refundable period, you should be able to get a nice discount and/or add Pick 2 promos if you didn't have them already. I was pleasantly surprised when he asked if I'd like him to refund 20% of the fare when I had already paid in full...uh yes please!

Had to share my awesome news. I called CAS yesterday regarding getting my Caesars Diamond Level discount. I gave him my booking number and he put me on hold for a few minutes. He came back as stated that he could do better than my Diamond discount. Due to my play on my past cruise on the Epic in April 2014, he could comp me an outside view cabin and I would only have to pay for the update to my booked cabin on the Escape for my upcoming cruise in April 2017 (aft balcony/Cat B1). I still got my UBP and SDP. That call saved me $2000 from what I booked at. I hope I don't spend all that savings back in the Escape Casino. LOL. So glad for these message boards.

Way to go! They're certainly hoping you will give them back the savings, of course!
