Staggered Boarding Times San Pedro/Port of Los Angeles

Hi Cruisers,

I have received an email about staggered or staged boarding time depending on deck level. I also saw a post about this not long ago. For those that have embarked from the San Pedro/Port of Los Angeles, what has been your experience with this? In particular, we like to board early so that we can eat lunch in the main dining room. Are they boarding "strictly by the deck" or is it flexible and "suggested" boarding times? We will be sailing on the Star. Any information on recent boarding is greatly appreciated.

We boarded in San Pedro for our last 2 cruises and received the same email. You can still arrive when you want and you will be boarded pretty much in the order of your arrival and check in. Both my last cruises boarding began at about noon with the wedding parties and Suites and Elites. Then platinum followed by general boarding

When you check in you will be given a boarding group number and shown where to sit. When that group is called off you go, so earlier you check in earlier you board. If you want the MDR lunch I suggest you get to the port between 1030 and 1100.

There are many threads on this. A quick search found one very large recent one,

I'll be sailing on the Star Princess end of the month and apparently the late staggered boarding is real as the ship will have arrived from South America earlier in the day and will be subject to closer U.S. CBP and CG inspection than usual. Advising 1430-1630 checkin!
