Upgrading room from interior to Balcony, which price difference?

We are currently booked in a family harbour interior room on the carnival vista.

 

if I upgraded to a balcony which price difference would I pay, the price between what I paid for interior and the current price of Balcony or the difference between the current price of interior and the balcony?

You would pay the difference between what you have already paid and the current price of the room you want.

They will quote you at the current balcony pricing

For example: They would say the current price for the balcony is $2000 and you already paid $800 for the interior so you would now owe $1200 if you want to upgrade.

Unless you wait for the "upsell fairy" to call. We were offered lido interior to lido balcony for $180. Granted it is on a 5 day, but you could get lucky, but also... New ship, so big unknown there.
