MDR - dining time

We are a group of 13 and plan on dining all together a few nights in the MDR. How much time should we plan on the meal taking from the time we sit down to when they serve dessert?

Like any restaurant on shore it will depend on how busy they are (longer between 6&8); the time you want to eat; how long it takes you all to decide what to order; how much drink you order; how long it takes to get all the choices together; whether you all have starters and or desserts; whether you all have coffee or tea. And also how much time you waste talking rather than eating. It will also depend on the wait staff you have

Your question is up there with "How long is a piece of string?"

Two of us tend to go into the MDR at about 5.45 so we are finished before my wife wants to arrive at the theatre. Some nights we are finished by 6.40 and others are still there at 7.10.

While we didn't all eat together every night, some nights people dined in groups of 6-8. Those meals took on average about an hour- hour 15 minutes. We did dine as a whole group one evening to celebrate an anniversary. We reserved the table in advance with the group services manager and was given the large "captains table". That meal took about 2 hours, and some of the kids left early to go to kids club. We did this at the end of the cruise, and we all enjoyed the one big dinner together, so lingering wasn't a problem. I do believe the table we got goes unused most evenings, so it wasn't a big deal :)

Thanks,

Depends. Since entrees aren't served until everyone finishes appetizers and desserts aren't served until everyone finishes entrees, part of answer depends on folks in your group.

I'd say the average is 90 minutes, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less.

Kinda like the good ole days of 10-top MDR tables. You're paced by the people on the table. If there is a lot of good conversation and people are taking their time, I would allow at least 2 hours. In a big group, people are typically not racing through their dinner.

We sometimes take 2 hours in the MDR (just the two of us) if we are having a relaxed dinner.
