Rare bluejay555 Posted March 13, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2016 I should know this, but I guess we've always just watched whatever is offered and not thought about it. My kids are crossing their fingers that "Finding Dory" will be playing, but it will still be in theaters when we cruise. Sidenote, but I love that my kids are getting old enough that they think ahead and are completely involved in planning our cruise activities, because half the fun is planning and dreaming about it! beachbum53 Posted March 14, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2016 Does the seaside theater play movies currently in theaters? No. The movies shown at the seaside theater are usually either movies recently released to pay-per-view or on DVD, or sometimes some slightly older movies. SadieN Posted March 14, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) We've seen movies that were between the theaters and pay-per-view/rentals. Also seen some older movies. Don't remember seeing any Disney movies on a CCL Corp ship. Edited March 14, 2016 by SadieN

Kethry88 Posted March 14, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2016 We've seen movies that were between the theaters and pay-per-view/rentals. Also seen some older movies. Don't remember seeing any Disney movies on a CCL Corp ship. They played Maleficent on our Freedom cruise. I also remember Wall-E playing on a cruise previous to that one, as well as several other Disney-Pixar films over the years But, yeah, I've seen some movies that were new enough not to be on DVD yet, but nothing currently in theaters. John Heald usually regularly posts on his social media page every month or so what will be playing on the ships for the following month, so when the list covering your cruise goes up you can let your kids know what might be playing. Schoifmom Posted March 14, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 14, 2016 From what I understand, they show movies that would be playing in "second run" theaters. So, they may or may not already be in DVD release, but are still recent enough to garner that second chance at a some small box-office income.
