phreddiem Posted March 27, 2016 #26 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Just off the Escape with the UBP. Zero problems getting a drink, but I didn't hang around the pool area much. Crowds around those bars were sometimes pretty large. I loved the small bar on the sundeck,19 forward; never waited long for my frozen margarita there! I didn't see evidence of any limits being set. The UBP was fantastic, as far as I'm concerned.
deladypilot Posted March 27, 2016 #27 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Very easy to get drinks. The only time there was a back-up was sail-away day before we left port and that was because I was at the usual places everyone hangs out at sail-away. I think if you seek out the more out of the way bars on the first day, you will be fine. ^ This The pool area bar is going to be extremely busy during sail away. So find another bar during that time. Nothing says you cant bring it to the pool. After sail away people disburse and the pool area will be find for getting your drinks
wonmycruise Posted March 28, 2016 #28 Share Posted March 28, 2016 (edited) Just got back ... had both ubp and Sdp Never had a single problem ever. We stayed at h2o and there were plenty of servers and there's a bar right there. Never a problem in specialty dining restarants or casino. Loved the food...ship ... shows etc..best. ever. packer99 Posted March 28, 2016 #29 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Never had huge waits for a drink. Never had a problem getting multiple drinks. The Waves Bar was busy but we usually always got a seat. We also tipped a couple bucks here and there, that went along way when sitting at the bar. Also, ordered soda for my kid who did not have the beverage package. The would order along with ours, never had a problem. In fact, they would refill him without being asked.
Speasda Posted March 29, 2016 #30 Share Posted March 29, 2016 Just got off the Dawn. No limits on number of drinks but you can only get one drink at a time per key card. Buckets of beer are not allowed with UBP. You just have to get them one at a time from the bar. Also, some high end brands are above $15 so you have to pay the difference if you want them. We're bourbon drinkers and were able to order Makers Mark and Knob Creek but Basil Hayden was above the $15 limit so we would have had to pay the amount over $15 if we wanted it. Woodford was also covered under the $15. Never saw Basil Hayden, sorry I missed it.

Do you mean flights? No - the UBP cannot be used for drink flights. But you can always order the drinks individually. :) Are you confusing Margaritaville with 5 o'clock somewhere? At Margaritaville (up top - deck 17), you can walk up to the bar in the back and order drinks with UBP whenever you want - even if you're not dining there. 5 o'clock somewhere bar (deck 8), UBP is accepted. Starflyr3 Posted March 30, 2016 #36 Share Posted March 30, 2016 I think the only limit you might run into is if you send 1 person to get 27 drinks (or 5 or whatever). Especially if you dont frequent the same bar(s) regularly. Now, if you send them with a bunch of people's cards, it shouldnt be an issue (aside from a carrying them back issue!) rnustad Posted March 30, 2016 #37 Share Posted March 30, 2016 Just got off the ship on Feb 28th. Had a blast. We also had the UBP. You will not have any issues. You may find some bars busier than others and may have to wait. If you really want fast service, waive a few dollars around. Yes, you pay the 18% and service fees on the UBP, but don't be shy about tipping more. The servers and bartenders will love you and keep checking up on you often. Some bartenders will bypass others to serve you if you have been tipping already. Some people will rant about tipping extra. These kids don't make much and $1 here and there will not kill you. The amount you pay in grats and service fees is nothing. You didn't pay for the UBP promo. (Averaging $900 for 2).
shay16001 Posted March 31, 2016 #38 Share Posted March 31, 2016 I am cruising with 27 family/friends next Feb on the escape. We all like to drink and is why we booked with NCL for the UDP. We have been hearing some rumbling about bartenders ignoring or trying to limit the amount of drinks you get with the package. Has anyone had the unlimited drink package on the escape and is it truly unlimited or is it hard to get drinks in your hands? Thank you! 14 of us went on the Getaway last April with the UDP and never had a problem getting drinks. I think they assume most people are drinking with the package. We are have a party of 16 going on the Escape in October. Make sure to take dollars to tip because it does make a difference in service. They also gave my children pop when ever they wanted it. beccafries Posted April 3, 2016 #39 Share Posted April 3, 2016 How much extra is the unlim drink pkg... is it like 99.00 pp?
Vacationlover2 Posted April 3, 2016 #40 Share Posted April 3, 2016 The drink package is often included as a perk and you just pay the gratuities. If you buy it outright it's about $80 per person per day Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
LrgPizza Posted April 3, 2016 #41 Share Posted April 3, 2016 How much extra is the unlim drink pkg... is it like 99.00 pp? The UBP price is $79 per person per day, plus 18% gratuities.
Maddysdaddy Posted April 4, 2016 #42 Share Posted April 4, 2016 . Actually, if you go to the outside 5 o'clock somewhere bar a couple of times, it's hard to get Yum to stop pouring them. Sailed the Escape last week, and 5 o'clock became my family's bar of choice, as we were staying in an M6 on deck 8. Yum and Curly are the absolute best - great bartenders and extremely friendly. At certain bars across the ship, the staff were less than friendly (I'm looking at you, Atrium), but 5 o'clock and the mojito bar (Bong) were great, and we kept returning to both.
