dtmd Posted March 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2016 Hubby and I are looking for a quieter beach that has some worthwhile snorkeling in St. Kitts. We really aren't into the rowdy party scene and want to enjoy and relax for the day. Particularly interested in a place that doesn't stack chairs inches apart. Thanks much! MKellyUtah Posted March 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2016 We've been to St. Kitts twice, have gone to Marriott Resort both times, bought a day pass each time ($35pp). We most recently went December 2015, will probably go there again this December. Beautiful resort, nice change facilities, has both a pool and a large beach with lots (maybe 150-200) of comfortable loungers. Loungers are both out in the open or underneath large gazebo / palapa-like shaded areas that are sturdy (anchored in cement) and spread around the beach. The beach is very deep, so you don't feel like you're on top of the resort (or other people). There's a beach bar that takes care of both the beach guests and pool guests. There's a man-made breakwater in front of the beach, or you can go around it into the open ocean. Loungers (at either the beach or pool) are included in day pass price. A very quiet, peaceful place both times we visited --- no sound of loud music ... wave runners - or helicopters. I haven't snorkeled there, but have talked to people who did and they said it was okay and they saw some fish and / or turtles. Both times we've been there the resort staff has treated us like regular guests. A couple of nice places to eat are on the premises. Cab ride is about 10-15 mins away, $6pp, we had the cab driver (Kevin this last time) come back to pick us up at a designated time. It's a place we'd consider for a land vacation stay (if the price was right.) Hope that helps ...
Jlovesthesea Posted March 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Beaches on the southern penninsula are less crowded. Check out South Friar's Beach, Whitehouse Bay, Cockelshell Bay, Major's Bay and Turtle Beach. The best beach for snorkeling ****ten Bay beach but that is only accessible by boat. blessedwith12 Posted March 31, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2016 I personally love Shipwreck but people either love it or hate it. It is rustic - not fancy at all. The beach has been eroded and there is only room for one row of lounges. It has a bar/grill and restrooms. Monkeys and mongoose live on the hill behind the bar and you can see them in their natural habitat. Snorkeling from shore. Not as great as Grand Turk but better than St. Martin. Loungers are free - but they appreciate your orders from their grill. The view is awesome. I was there in January and it was my second time there. I returned because I wanted my daughters to see it. Very quiet and relaxing. I don't know if there were 30 people there.

The description for the St. Kitts Marriott on CC has the same pricing, but is the rest of the description (below, cut and pasted from the CC article) accurate in terms of the free tokens as well discounts on-site? St. Kitts Marriott Resort & Royal Beach Casino What You Get for Your Money: Conveniently, this resort offers with-room and without-room options. If you'd like daytime use of accommodations, the cost is $125 per party (the more of you there are, the lower the price per individual). Without a room, the cost is $35 per person. Either way, pass holders are entitled to use of the resort's pool, spa and restaurant. Meals, drinks and spa treatments cost extra, but pass holders get a 15 percent discount at the spa, 10 percent at the restaurant and 10 free tokens for the casino (for the over-18's, of course.) doones2 Posted April 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 1, 2016 I love shipwreck beach. Havent been there in a couple years but loved that it was quiet, where you can get a massage on the beach, a good drink at the bar and decent food. I also love seeing the monkeys and mongoose when they come out to eat. Not something I see in the states.

I recall the discounts for the spa & restaurant being offered (although we did not use either the 2 times we went), but don't remember anything about the the casino tokens. (I was pretty enthralled with the setting ... maybe I wasn't paying attention.) A couple of other things to add: we were able to change into our swimsuits in the spa locker rooms (luxurious). The outside beach bar is between the pool & the beach, they only take credit cards (no cash). A restaurant is also adjacent to the to the beach bar. (We used the bar, didn't eat at the restaurant). I guess the most striking things about the place to me, apart from the peacefulness, was the size of the shade over the beach loungers, and the depth of the beach. A lot of room m between the beach and the resort structures, and the beach is long enough that you can get away from everyone else if you want to to. pamjjo Posted April 4, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2016 As to the Marriott day pass I Was wondering should we call ahead to reserve or do they just accept walk ins? Also, is the 10-15 min cab ride from the cruise pier ?
paul58 Posted April 4, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 4, 2016 I believe that the day passes at the Marriott are available only as a walk in. It is only 10-15 min from Port Zante, the cruise ship pier.
MKellyUtah Posted April 4, 2016 #10 Share Posted April 4, 2016 Paul58 is correct ... the two times we've been there, there have been no reservations, just walk-ins. I've seen it suggested in the past that you call from the ship pier to make sure they're doing day passes that day --- but we just took a cab there (about $7pp each way, as I recall) without calling ahead, and had no problems when we got there. Ladytee77 Posted April 9, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 9, 2016 Hi, my husband and I was looking at the Marriott for a day pass though a website "resort for a day" and it was $69 each, so you saying we can just go straight to the hotel and it's only $35? Yes, the two times we have been there it has been $35pp, paid at the front desk of the hotel. You could confirm that by calling the hotel. (Possibly the "Resort for a Day" quote includes transportation, plus their fee?)

paul58 Posted April 10, 2016 #15 Share Posted April 10, 2016 Digging into the "Resort for a Day" web site it says that transportation is NOT included. I would grab a taxi and head to the Marriott's front desk and forget the resort for a day offer.
MKellyUtah Posted April 10, 2016 #16 Share Posted April 10, 2016 Thanks, hubby wants casino, I want beach, lol and no transportation was included with that $69 price probably all fees. Yes, Marriott Resort has both beach AND casino ... the best of both worlds. (I can vouch for the beach, just ducked in & took a quick look at the casino.) I think the cab was about $7pp, about a 10 min ride from the port.
Ladytee77 Posted April 10, 2016 #17 Share Posted April 10, 2016 Thanks, I think this what we will do! We didn't any of the excursions available through the ship and just wanted to do a couple hours off the boat at a reasonable price. This option gives us best of both worlds! 14Terry Posted April 10, 2016 #18 Share Posted April 10, 2016 DW & I will be in St Kitts in less than 30 days. Last time I went to Cockleshell Beach then Brimstone Hill fortress. Catrin Posted April 30, 2016 #22 Share Posted April 30, 2016 We got back last week and went to the Marriott for the day. Because there were four adults and 1 11year old, we actually got a day room. This was about $125 for the five us (plus taxes). Having a private room, with a safe, bath, place to go to was perfect. We enjoyed the quiet beach in the morning. There could not have been more than 20 people on the entire beach. Before lunch, we went to the pool area, where we hung out the rest of the day. We split a large pizza for lunch, which we able to charge to our room. Overall, this was my favorite day on our cruise and I would go here again in a heartbeat. rxnrn Posted May 1, 2016 #23 Share Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) To Catrin: This is what we plan to do in 2 weeks!!!! Thanks for pictures and info. Did you just show up and ask for a day room or book ahead? What time did you arrive and leave? Were you allowed one of the cabanas? Any other info on the beach or other details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Edited May 1, 2016 by rxnrn forgot to quote

Mjasp Posted May 14, 2016 #25 Share Posted May 14, 2016 Has anyone been denied day pass access now that Marriott has an agreement with Resort for a day.com? Curious when the last person went there with a resort for a day reservation? I plan on doing this don't know if I should spend the extra $25pp with resort for a day Thanks
