Port of Miami parking procedure?

We've never parked in the Port of Miami, but after reading the posts it is probably our best option rather than off-site.

 

We'll be taking an Azamara cruise in November and just want to know if it is an easy walk to the terminal? Or is there a shuttle? Or should we drop off the luggage first, then park?

The ship will probably be on the opposite side from the other ships in the terminal which is Terminal J. There is a parking garage nearby. You can walk from the garage to the terminal or if you prefer you can first drop your items off.

if you drop your bags at the terminal first it is tricky getting into the garage

I would just park then walk across the road to the port building

I like to drop off luggage first.

You park and take your parking ticket with you and put it in a place that is easy to find. When you get back, use your ticket to pay at the machine on the first floor. It takes cash and credit cards. The machine will validate your ticket and you use it to exit the garage in your car.
