Taxi costs and form of payment

Can you use credit cards in the taxis in San Juan? Is the costs the same as for cash and do you tip? If you tip, is that in cash or added to the credit card (if you can use them)

Cab fares are zoned in San Juan. There are fixed rates, for example, to come from airport to Old San Juan. I always pay cash in a taxi and unless some very extreme displeasure about the ride, I always tip.

We too pay by cash. Even if they take credit cards be sure to have cash. In other places that we have traveled where credit cards are taken many times the machine is not working. Personally, I wouldn't risk using the credit card.

Agree...completely...no reason not to have cash here for a taxi OP.
