Priority boarding?

I get that it is for Haven guests-is there any priority boarding for Lattitudes members? We are on the lower tier of the membership. Also my hubby has had recent surgery and he needs extra boarding time. Not sure if he would need a wheelchair. We would like vibe passes-what is our best route to go but comfortably board with his health issue?

Thanks in advance!

There IS a line for Latitudes members but it is often longer than regular line. So just choose whichever is shorter.

If your husband has trouble standing for long period in line, then when you enter terminal go to far left for Special Needs line. You could also ask for wheelchair for him. Escort is also provided.

I doubt you'd be able to get Vibe passes. They go too quickly.

No. Just like other passengers, handicapped folks arrive at the terminal over the course of several hours.

If you are there early enough-would they board after Haven guests? Like an airplane has priority boarding?

That's not how boarding for the Haven works. An escort will bring them to the front of the boarding line regardless of group number. This system allows Haven guests to have priority boarding no matter when they arrive at the terminal.

If you want a chance at being first onboard, arrive extremely early and ask for special assistance. No guarantees, but occasionally the earliest disabled arrivals get a chance to board first.

Does handicap boarding go before group 1/2?

Yes. Once they board the suite passengers, they will call for anyone needing extra assistance. At that point you would "ignore" your boarding number and board at that time. edited - this response is specifically for Miami.

OP, I suggest you check/post the question at the Destination subforum for Florida - where the "locals" familiar with with MIA port's protocols for NCL boarding can best advise you.

I see that you are going to sail the Getaway soon - contact NCL's Special Needs desk & speak to them so that your reservation is noted; including whether you DH need a wheelchair for em/disembarkation (and, rental for one onboard, etc.)

For NYC, if you arrive early & let those inside the terminal doing the pre-screening after going thru security, they will direct you to Special Needs & we usually see a few wheelchairs with the "escort" on standby ... ready to roll. If MIA is like NYC, the gangways for the megaships boarding are long with a relatively steep incline, so wheeling would be good for someone with recent medical procedures, cardiac conditions or otherwise.

I am fairly certain that they follow a similar protocol, in that, after VIP's and Haven/Suite guests, wedding parties, etc. are boarded (escorted by the concierge, etc.) - that, "Special Needs" boarding are announced - (and, at least one time, recently - families with small children needing extra time to board) are to proceed to the gangways - then, casino guests & plantinum passengers not in the above categories would follow (our boarding group #'s are typically low and we arrive early ... in fact, our next NCL sailing ... has a suggested arrival time of 9:30 to 10:00 AM)

Ports like MIA will likely be home to hundreds of platinum passengers sailing with NCL every time, and, you wanted to see if you can get "bumped" ahead of the big group, slightly. It really doesn't matter whether you are in #1 or #2 - we are usually among the first few hundreds on the ship, before the MDR open for lunch & have time to quickly drop off our carry-on items in the stateroom first; and, there are still thousands of passengers inside the terminal / arriving - behind us.

This has nothing to do with question #2 & unrelated to getting Vibe passes. Happy cruising but do inform NCL of his medical/recent health issues on the need for wheelchair assistance - if on embarkation day, it is not required or necessary - good for everyone but it's been requested just in case.

Thanks-we have contacted them already when he went through his surgery. Our E Docs are listed wheelchair assist-I don't know if he will need one-it truly depends on the day and I told NCL that. We are planning on being at the terminal no later than 9 am.
