bobontheblue Posted March 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2016 (edited) Trying to decide on best arrival time at Gatwick for transfers down to Southampton with Princess. We do not have the luxury of time to be able to fly in the days prior so will be arriving from Toronto the morning of. Just curious as to transfers, when do the first ones leave or do they wait for all arrivals. Would not want to sit around the airport from 6am. if they do not leave till noon. pris993 Posted March 31, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2016 if you are willing to pay for a private car service check out Smithtotheairport... great way to transfer to Southampton... can order on line pay on day of service. We have used serveral times. Would not go any other way.
D&N LUV 2 TRAVEL Posted March 31, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2016 If you have not done so yet try posting on your roll call to see if any others are arriving the day of and maybe you can share a taxi with them. People our our British Isles cruise did that and were successful in getting another couple to join them and reduce the cost.
Shoalwater Posted March 31, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Depending on your luggage situation, we like to use the Southwest trains from LGW to Southampton station (about $10/pers) prepurchase then a $10 cab to the pier.
MrMan Posted March 31, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 31, 2016 When I take QM2, From LGW, catch train to Southampton and taxi to ship if there is not a shuttle bus there from the ship picking up passengers. Again assuming luggage is not a big issue
susancruzs Posted March 31, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Does the National Express Bus go from Gatwick to Southampton? I've used it from Heathrow, very reasonable and awesome service. I had a huge bag due to being on a month long journey, and it as no issue at all.
skynight Posted March 31, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2016 Just another option, you can go on line and book a private car service to meet you at the terminal and transport you to Southampton. The pricing is somewhere between GBP85 to GBP110. We will be doing this from Heathrow and to us it is worth the expense.
