We noticed that it is just over 2 miles from the port to the Klondike Gold Dredge center. Is this something we could walk to? I can't find any information on it and the map looks like highway part of the way. TIA for your help and any info you can provide.

From Google maps, you're right it looks like it's 2 miles away. I don't think that would be such a bad walk if you're up for it. Otherwise, I'm sure you could easily find a taxi or shuttle to get you over there.

If this is where I think it is I don't believe it would be a bad walk. Is it just out of town past the Railroad Maintenance yard and the Glass Blowing / Garden center? (also just past the cemetery) It's really not what you would call a highway, there is only one road in and out of town (one lane each direction) Most of the walk is thru the town itself and there are really very few cars driving around. There is a shuttle bus that goes from the ship into/around town, not sure if it goes out that far but you could probably cut the distance at least in half if not more for a couple of bucks

it's an easy walk, no hills. I recommend doing the ranger led walk first at the Yukon Goldrush NP. Gives you a sense of the history of the town and some of the characters buried at the cemetary.

The City Bus is another option, especially if it's raining ... it stops fairly close to the Cemetary. $5 for an all day pass.

I notice that the Skagway web site now has their Visitor Guide on-line. Good town map inside.

Sorry .... I saw the C in Center and immediately thought Cemetary. Great help I was !

Is this the place you're thinking of? If so it appears to be a little further than the Cemetary so I'd say closer to 2 1/2 miles.

Yes and yes. We are thinking (if it's not raining) of it being a great way to stretch our legs and see the town. 2 1/2 is easy peasy for us. Thank you again for your help.
