JenP Posted April 8, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2016 I usually sail on Royal Caribbean, but I saw two cruises on Carnival for summer 2017 that I would like to book because they're more cost effective and include more interesting ports. When I was perusing the website, I saw there was a $49 deposit offer, but when I went back to book them after talking with my husband, the offer was gone. My question is whether these offers come along often and, if so, how regularly? I'd rather not tie up $1000 making deposits for two summer 2017 cruises before I go on my 2016 summer cruise. lizardhowson Posted April 8, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2016 They come and go. I have read they are more frequent during the 1st three months of the year. Can't say if that is accurate or not. One thing I do know, when you see a good offer/rate - grab it !
canadaman111 Posted April 8, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2016 There has been 3 or so this year. They also will have $99 deposit sales, and $125 deposit sales from time to time
cmukid87 Posted April 8, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2016 $49 deposits are fairly rare, maybe a couple times a year. Sometimes it could be only to certain VIFP members. There are typically quite a few "reduced deposit" sales, however. Anywhere from $49/person, $99/person, to 50% reduced.
suzycruiser2 Posted April 8, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2016 They have already had more of the $49 deposit sales this year than I can remember them having all of last year. You just never know when they will pop up.
RCmommy Posted April 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 8, 2016 I have called to book and been offered the reduced deposit even when it did not show on the online booking.
crzndeb Posted April 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Be aware that if you book at a reduced fare and there is a price drop on the cruise, you will need to make the full deposit for the fare code change, unless the drop also includes a reduced deposit.
